why do larger cations have smaller lattice energy? Is lattice energy the same as enthlapy?

Lattice energy is energy stored in bonds of solids. It is a barrier that needs to be overcome to break up the lattice of the solid.
Larger cations have larger radii by definition. Larger distance means weaker electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions. -> smaller lattice energy.
