What the heck's wrong with a person that laughs all the time? This doctor never stops. She will be talking about a benign subject such as bringing her spouse lunch and will be laughing like it's a real rib-tickler. Is it more of a habit...anxiety? Driving me crazy!

maybe she has an amygdala lesion

Despite being annoying, does it impair her ability to function in any significant sphere of her life, ie work, personal life?

Witzelsucht: frequent childish jokes and puns, seen in frontotemporal dementia (not saying she has it, just one of my favorite psych terms at the moment, I am diagnosing all my friends with it).

Thanks Watto!

I always appreciate being able to learn something new.

Or it's an aprosodia related to right hemisphere damage. Or left hemisphere damage I guess because she had trouble following display rules. So, yeah, she's broken. 🙂

So people who tell bad jokes all the time have frontotemporal dementia? Makes sense. 😎

Great term, but I'd say she's presenting with another symptom of FTD (often seen with witzelsucht): moria - childish euphoria and cheerful excitement

She functions ok; just finished her residency a year or so ago. Haven't heard her tell any jokes. Just a really annoying person...will come pick up stuff off your desk, look at your PC screen, really noisy individual. I'm figuring a bitch slap would be appropriate, lol!😀

Witzelsucht

All of my geriatric dementia patients have now been diagnosed with this, only because I really like the word. *sarcasm, I really do like the word*
