Layoffs

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Get the ring back. Don't try to salvage the relationship. It's over. She's been trashing you to her family. There is no going back from that point.

How much does a 5ct ring cost? It sounds too much on a pharmacist's salary.

A little over $22K. Her close friend and her sister pretty much have comparable rings. So, I couldn't have given her something less. I went a little higher. I was in love!!!

Now, I am sitting here drinking my coffee, looking for work and posting on SDN while she is probably getting F*^ked by someone else.

Awe come on...who banned the guy?

$22k for a ring is ridiculous, CA standard I guess. But I was expecting 5ct to cost a lot more.

I thought he was real. I wish my posts were fake, and I wasn't a pharmacist bankrupt and without work. I was going to say the nurse probably was seeing the doctor behind his back while they were dating, or else how would she have gotten with him so fast? I wish I had 22k, I wouldn't be in such dire financial straights. I would never expect a man to spend that much on a ring for me if I ever got married.

I'm confused? Are there objective tools for determining trollishness? I wondered .... about the banned's stated "cause" for being laid off. The new president at AAPE included SDN in her commentary re: surplus of pharmacist in the journal this month. She also mentioned promoting technician advancement.

I got worked up by his post and in fact was compelled to "join" due to that posting. Ultimately I was amused that all turned focus on the girlfriend.

I am a per diem pool pharmacist that never gets scheduled (last shift worked was last October). I have been living in squalor and hoarding what money I can make since circa 2008. I just learned I technically qualify for MediCaid based on last years income... yuck (embarrassed). I am opting for exclusion from healthcare coverage cuz I just can't .... be on MediCal. Hope I don't break a hip or something? 🙂

As usual, the mods ban the interesting people. This thread is interesting, too. It too shall soon be closed.

I'm about to just start my own pharmacy forum.

In terms of marrying up; I think it is more of a girl thing than a guy thing. Most guys primarily look for physical attributes first and the rest later. LOL

This seems to be reversed and pharmacy school. It seems to be the guys who have married up and the women who are looking to marry down…I don't really understand why...

The job will take care of itself. This woman is what needs crushed now. Do it first thing in the morning. Call and say, "You know what, you're right. This isn't going to work out. You left my side at the first inkling of trouble. I can't trust you. Thank you for showing who you are. We are done. Forever. Don't try to contact me ever again." And then remove her from your life.

This times 50. QFT and DTB.

I'm so sorry though. Keep your chin up and be determined. At least you've got some experience on your resume, which should help. A lot of my new-grad friends cant even get retail jobs because of a lack of experience.

You are saying in pharmacy school girls marry down and guys marry up? In this case, in my school I know a couple of girls that married down.

Girls know your going to be a pharmacist, doctor, etc. they throw themselves at you

Conversely, men must run the other way when they see girls on the way to being a pharmacist or doctor.

I used to work with a female pharmacist who married down, big-time. I won't post the gory details, because doing so could identify her, but let's just say that it is NOT normal for an educated person who was raised in a middle-class home to mostly associate with ex-convicts. It just isn't. It also wasn't my problem, either.

😕

Otherwise, as long as the spouse is capable of earning an honest paycheck and the couple loves each other, what does it matter? I can think of one female classmate who married her high school sweetheart, who was a construction worker and did janitorial work in the off season, and another who married a truck driver. There also seem to be a lot of women pharmacists who marry men schoolteachers, a combination I've always found curious.

That's not the issue. Some of these girls already have a spouse, or are engaged before they enter pharmacy school. people without degrees or just have a BA degree are with the pharmacy females. I think there is this mentality, as long as you can take care of the girl during her time in school they can take of you when they graduate.

There is more to life than degrees.

Most pharmacists don't even have an undergraduate degree. As a pharmacist I have yet to see girls fighting each other to get to one of us. LOL They simply go for the MDs. Just a fact of life people. 🙄

Wow, so this guy just got laid off, dumped by fiance, and banned from this forum. I hope he doesn't swallow a bottle of Ambien tonight.

A dude making $130k a year gets attention, period. I think the "problem" is that many people have no idea how well of pharmacists are. Fine by me. I'm all about hiding in plain sight.

Even a dude making $80k gets attention.
Right! Incognito is the best... I still wear my college tshirts. Hehehehe

How do you think I managed to retire before I was 50? Of course, not having kids helped. Plus, I now live in a small apartment so I can stay that way (for the time being, anyway, 'cos you never know). BTW, two days ago, I finished my CEs for the 2014-16 season, and I do indeed plan to renew all 3 state licenses.

If someone had told me 5 years ago that my life would be like this now, I would have :whoa: and I still feel that way sometimes.

You know, they can make more than most pharmacists.

Especially because there's work available for them, although the hours can be insane and there are often few or no benefits.

The smartest kid at my junior high got razzed all the time (I wouldn't have classified it as bullying) because he wanted to be a truck driver. He went to the V/T high school and graduated as valedictorian, and then went to the community college and got a certificate in diesel mechanics, which he has now taught there for many years. 😎 I bet that school produces the best diesel mechanics anywhere, and truthfully, he would have been a dismal failure as a doctor or lawyer (or, for that matter, a pharmacist). His wife and I worked together when we were teenagers, and are now Facebook friends.

Really? I must be missing out! But its pointless anyway, I just wish there are more Asians in Texas. 🙁

I beg to defer. You can be a pharmacist making millions and no one would care. My brother is a medical student and every time we go somewhere, the second he mentions that he is a med student people just surround him and have a million questions about his specialty, future practice, etc. On the other hand, when I get asked about what I do....the person pretty much always says the same thing, Oh! and walks away. 🙄

Lol I get you must be smart. This guy is smart. Pharmaceuticals? I try to make the conversation into something different anyways 🙂

You could just be really ugly.

Techs roll their eyes at me ....and give me the side eye, even the ones I am taller than don't look up to me.
; p

A 5 ct diamond is not 22K. That is how the troll was exposed.

It could have been a really, really, really crappy diamond.

I'm just glad I met and married my wife when I was fat and poor. I know she loves me!!!!

Been there bro...dump her. It's sad that there are so many people out there these days that don't take commitment seriously. you love this person for better or worst...end of story. dump that btch.
