Hey everyone,
I just found out that my school is offering a class on leadership and developing leadership skills next semester. I'm trying to decide whether or not to take it. Will it count towards leadership experience? Will vet schools even notice? Also, is it worth rearranging all my classes since I pretty much planned out the rest of college and, taking 17-18 credits, I just barely fill all my requirements (major, vet school, etc.). Thanks

Probably not worth it. My two cents.

I mean, a class on leadership is probably better than having no leadership experience at all... but the whole point of leadership experience is that you've had the experience of leading a group of people. The amount of benefit it'll give you is probably not nearly enough to justify crapping out your schedule, especially if you're only doing it to try and impress vet schools.

I second the "not worth it."

It would have to be one heck of a class to be worth rearranging your schedule at this point, and quite frankly I have never heard of a "leadership class" that was actually that good.

I don't really think it's worth it either. My undergrad had a leadership office and they offered leadership workshops that you could take. They usually were just a day or two long. If you don't have any leadership experience and are looking for something to put down, maybe see if your school offers something like that?

Another vote for 'no worth it'. You'd look better if you just volunteered on some group/club's board at your school. Then you can say you've actually done it, not just taken a class in it.

And it'll probably take less time.
