I was a student tutor/TA for an upper level genetics lab, so I spent 9 hours/week helping students understand course material or helped graduate students run the labs. I also had the opportunity to teach some basic lab techniques (gel electrophoresis, interpreting restriction digests, troubleshooting PCR issues, etc). I also hosted exam review sessions with the TAs. I also conveyed organizational concerns/suggestions to the professor.

Just wondering if this counted as leadership experience...

Also, what about teaching other undergraduates in a research lab?

Thanks!

1) Unless you were (to use some examples) training, monitoring, delegating tasks, and/or taking responsibility for the performance of other TAs, this activity would better fit in the Teaching category. Sounds like a terrific, multifaceted activity that will hopefully result in a great LOR.

2) I'm not clear on your exact role, but this seems more likely to qualify as peer Leadership if you were training them to take on research responsibilities and then keeping an eye on them.
