No. The average applicant will have little to no leadership experience in medicine.

Leadership = positions of authority in things like clubs, sororities/fraternities, military/police rank above that of your average n00bie, civilian supervisory/management experience, scout leader, big brother/sister, etc...

Yup, I agree here.

Ironically, I am a facilitator for the "Leadership group" for our football team. 😎

I'm completely stumped by this. I've skimmed through some past threads, but all the ideas I saw were really targeted towards typical college-aged students.

What exactly counts as leadership? Does it need to be directly related to medicine?

I feel like such a dunce asking this, but I really feel quite lost. I dunno if I'm just overthinking it or what...

Can't really say much except my "leadership" experiences.

I've led groups of volunteers in three different organizations because:

1. I asked for a position with more responsibility than I had. I feel like I got really lucky here, and I don't think this is how most people get leadership positions.
2. I had previous experience in the type of projects we were doing.
3. I had previous experience in the department and new people were coming in.

Basically you need to show whoever is in charge that you can handle the responsibility and that you are qualified for it. You reallly won't be leading anyone but a group of peers, so don't expect much more than that.
