Just started PM&R residency and I'm quickly realizing how much work I have to do to improve on my functional anatomy knowledge. I know Hollinshead's is a great book. Does anyone have any other good suggestions for drilling this stuff into my head? A good flash card set? Anything else? Any help would be much appreciated.

You'll learn way more from your patients than you ever will from a book. Talk to them and exam eveything. Then go read about it. Rehab is the best place for this as you see what deficits people have due to various injuries. Losing something is a great wat to appreciate it.

Spend as much time with the therapists as you can. You'll again learn much more than a book can teach you, and therapists love to think they know more than you. Right now they do. 😉

Agree that the best way to solidify functional anatomy is to examine patients. I would also encourage you to have your attendings observe you performing physical exams to make sure you are doing things correctly. Make 'em teach you.

It's hard to trudge through a textbook when you haven't seen a whole lot of clinical stuff yet. I always tried to make things fun for myself and did "identify that muscle" quizzes online as well as gross anatomy quizzes from med school websites. As a result, I know my anatomy quite well.
