I'm really interested in applying to SMDEP this year, but to increase my chances of getting in, I'm willing to apply to a less competitive school. All I really want is the experience, not necessarily the prestige of being a part of Columbia or UCLA's program.

So, in your opinion, which ones are the less competitive one?

SMDEP programs look for two kinds of people: the excellent straight-A student from the Ivy League AND the struggling student with a 2.9 from community college that is trying to make a difference. I participated in an Ivy SMDEP and both kinds of people were there. Don't count yourself out.

what about a 4.0 community college go-er? 😀
