I am having a few issues where I am getting my master's degree. I planned on being done in two years and then applying to MD and DO after that. I am taking the Kaplan MCAT now and the way it would work out the timing should be perfect. Only problem is that now that I am into the program a little bit, I am starting to realize that it's not really for me. Next semester's course work would be very demanding and it would be while trying to study for the MCAT. Also, I didn't realize how much research I would be required to do, and how long it would take. I have been hearing that most people don't get done in two years, and that would really mess up my plans. So my question is would it look bad to schools when I apply to see that I left early? I am not really happy doing what I am doing at the moment. I just find it kind of pointless to be throwing money into a program and would not be guaranteed a degree before I left, because I intend on leaving for med.school when the times comes, degree or not. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

I'm wondering this also. I just started a masters program and i'm just now realizing that i hate laboratory research

Dr. 14220 Go Sabres, anywho... stick out whatever program you are in at least until you have a medical school acceptance in hand. If you really want to get into med school you can suck it up and do enough research for a masters thesis. Remember why you entered the post-bacc program to begin with. Dropping out of a post-bacc program could be detrimental to your med school application. If you drop out admissions committees may see a pattern and question your dedication, drive, etc

some medical schools offer acceptances with the stipulation that you complete any program you were enrolled in at the time of application. you should check with the schools you will be applying to.
