So I decided to leave Carib school since honestly I did not see anything positive coming out of it. My question is, will DO schools look negatively towards that? I did fairly well while I was in it (only half semester) but I am not sure if it will be deal breaker. Also, I need to retake my mcat since its pretty old, what would be sufficient score to have to get in with 3.3 bs and 3.5 ms degrees.

There's a student at my school who was in the Caribbean. He didn't have to retake gross anatomy, just the other material.

It shouldn't hurt you, just tell schools you're applying to what you learned from it.

thanks! just curious, any idea what school that was he was from?

If you are coming from the 'Big 3", that may look a bit better than some of the other schools. Honestly, I don't think you will have much trouble (assuming you give a good explanation for leaving the foreign school).

DO matriculant MCAT is right around 27, so your goal should be to beat that. You may be able to get in with a score below that, but shoot for hi 20's and above.

Though it is said again and again, APPLY EARLY! Get your primary submitted the day it opens, and be working on everything weeks before that. The earlier you apply, the better shot your chances. Also, apply to as many schools as you can. I bet you want to get back to the medical school thing as quick as possible, so play the numbers game.

I don't think you will have any trouble, so good luck!

P.S. - Were you at a "Big 3' school? Do you care to give us a bit more insight as to why you stopped going?

it sounds like you're doing the same thing i did this past interview period. the most important thing is to apply early and to have a solid answer to why you left the school and what you learned by leaving. that was the question that every school spent the most time on in my interviews this year.
good luck to you! feel free to pm me if you have any more specific questions 🙂

I went to Ross (which is #2 I think). I got really sick day before mini 2 and couldn't take it. Administration at Ross is really bad, and basically they told me tough luck. There was no way for me to retake the mini so either way I would have to retake whole semester if I came back. I decided it's not for me. Plus I want to apply in US cause I am sure I will have better chances then graduating from carib school

Also, should I apply before I take mcat? I need to retake it since my scores are 10 years old. I was thinking of taking it this july. Should I send prelims before I take MCAT?
Thank you in advance!

What's a mini?

Also, did you apply to DO schools the first time around? I would send in your primaries as soon as it opens and send your MCAT as soon as it comes in.

mini is a midterm. I am not sure how rest of medschools are but here we have one mini for all subjects together. So there is 125+-5 questions on each mini. We have 3 of them and Final.
Thanks for input, I will do that.
