Oh yeah, except switch up missing the city I went to college instead of home. What comforts me is that I'm too busy to truly enjoy the environment around med school and preclinical years won't be much longer.

I knew that if my break was too short Id end up going back homesick so I took an extra week off and miss a few classes. Id be going back from NYC to New Orleans= totally different environments

i hear ya... going back to school-city will make me really sad now that ive been home for christmas🙁

though, I know I will have so much to do when I go back that I won't even have time to think about it...

... looking forward to summer already 🙂

At least you guys stay in the same country 🙂

Try going around the world for months at a time...

Awww... I'm sorry you folks are homesick! Keep your chins up, and know that this too shall pass. Whenever I feel really homesick myself, I listen to that Pogues song, Thousands Are Sailing, and I think, at least I'm not an Irish immigrant in New York 40 years ago with a crappy job, whose only comfort is singing old Irish ballads in a pub and then going home to cry. 🙂

Right now, I'm struggling with the dilemma of whether to pursue a residency in a field I love, or move back "home" and have my mom & dad around for the little ones... it's a tough call, but I try think, whether it's my ultimate ideal career or a great family, I'm blessed to have either one. And, sometimes I'm just bummed out about it. Bah humbug. 🙁

Any ideas for getting your parents to move to a major urban center?! Joking... sort of.

My parents started joking that they were going to move where I do my residency, however, since they are moving in September, and I'll be an M4 then, so that's not happening. I'm just sad they're leaving Hawai'i -- no more escaping there in winter for vacation. =(

On that note, Go Warriors!

I feel the same way. It's going to be tough leaving 70 degree weather and switch to 10 degree weather. It just adds up to the homesickness. I'm just personally waiting until it gets really busy so I won't have to think about being a thousand miles away from home. dammit i'm gonna miss wearing shorts and sandals for the next couple of months.

I moved 2000 miles away for college, thinking that I wanted to be as far from my parents as possible. I realized towards the end of college that I really missed them and wanted to be more involved in family life. I am now only 550 or so miles away and in the same time zone, which helps, but I am still so far away. I really miss them and I hope that when I end up settling down I will be much closer. It's always so hard to leave after holidays!

Oh sad! 🙁
