This post is in regards to the LECOM Academic Index (calculated from GPA and SAT or ACT). This score can be used in lieu of no MCAT or a poor MCAT.

Just curious - what's to stop an applicant from retaking the ACT or SAT to achieve a higher score? Do they care if you took the ACT or SAT 10 weeks ago or 10 years ago? For anyone who has had their score calculated by LECOM, do they ask the date you took the exam? How do they verify your ACT or SAT score?

Wait wait wait...so you don't even need to take the MCAT and you can just submit this to LECOM?

Technically yes but I would be surprised if any traditional applicant was able to garner an acceptance this way

This. Technically it's an option that exists, but I keep an eye on the school-specific thread and I don't think there's been anyone who was interviewed or accepted without an MCAT.

LECOM has been collecting ACT/SAT scores on an optional basis for years, so my guess is that they figured the AIS might be a useful measure to have as an extra data point especially while nobody quite knew how to evaluate the new MCAT scores. I don't recommend anyone look at it as a sneaky way to avoid standardized testing.

Hi,
I interviewed at LECOM-SH on April 19th, and was contacted by the add-com and told they were waiting on my spring transcript to make their final decision. I used the AIS since the spring MCAT that I was originally planning on taking would not be considered by the school anyway. My cGpa 3.63 & sGPA 3.62. I have 4 very good letters and 1000 plus hours shadowing, also EC's. I will post and let you all know the final outcome. I myself have wondered if anyone has been accepted through the AIS system. Best of luck to all, the waiting is killing me!!

Hi!

I was emailed by a LECOM recruiter about this, so I had a bunch of questions to ask them.

I believe that the ACT or SAT had to be taken during highschool for it to count. Anything later, will not count.

That is correct, as I understand it you can not take those standardized exams once you have started college.

Question, does anyone on here know if LECOM-SH has set dates that they send out acceptance letters? Or do you know where to find this out? I don't want to annoy the school, and they told me that they received my final transcripts 2 weeks ago and that the addcom doesn't meet every week anymore. I have stayed in touch with the Vice President of the school and Lisa and Allison, who have been great helps. I know they are probably swamped and don't want to be "that person" so I try to limit my emails to real questions or concerns and for status inquiries once every 2 weeks.

Anyone have any updates on anyone being accepted this cycle with solely the AIS and no MCAT?
