I just got accepted at LECOM, and I need a little advice. Are there any nice places to live that are one bedroom? I tried to look around during my interview, but didn't have time to see much.

Also, I needed some help figuring out what is better for me PBL or LDP. I am used to the LDP format of undergrad, but I really like working in groups and not having to always be in a classroom. HELP!!

Thanks guys...any tips would be a big help.

If the only reason that you are thinking of ldp is that it is what you are used to, I would go with pbl. This is the best way to not have to be in class, which you said was something you were interested in. But I am a pbler and sort of biased towards my own pathway.
There are tons of apartment complexes with one bedroom apts, you can get the rental guide or check online at goerie.com. Granada is cheap but not so nice, there are tons of others that are more expensive but much nicer. Do you want to be close to school, do you have pets, etc...

Hey

Everyone is biased toward their own pathway (including me). None of us can make that decision for you...Each pathway has its advantages and disadvantages...

I'm an MSI PBLer and I really couldn't recommend anything else. I know everyone has his/her own learning preference and ultimately the decision should be made by you. I came from a lecture format to PBL and it was a bit scary. You don't know at first how you'll like it or if it will work. But eventually, you get into it and it's all you really want to do.

Just realize, and by no means am I deliberatly trying to trash LDP, that LECOM's lectures are probably not like the ones you had in college. In college, if you wanted to skip, you could. Not so at LECOM(or at least not in theory). You will sit in one room from 8-3,4,5 M-F for 2 yrs. There is mandatory attendance and of course the dress code. I know I didn't have too much exposure to it(3 months of anatomy), but I really didn't like it and I'm much happier now.

If you want a PBL perspective, PM me, hermione, sddoc. If you want an LDP perspective PM doctortobee, njdo, DOtobe, stomper627. We're all cool people and will try and give you some honest info.

Take care and congrats,

Dr_sax

They may all be cool, but I'm the coolest!

Nuh-uh, I am ! 😉

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I will PM you guys individually.

I am very pro-LDP, but not anti-PBL or anti-ISP. Like what has been said, there are advantages and disadvantages to each pathway. Not one of them is perfect (though PBL thinks they are...j/k). It all comes down to how you think you will learn the best. For me, I liked the structured schedule and the dependence of always having a professor lecturing to me. For others, it wasn't so, and they're doing great too.

As for housing, there was another thread on here about that. Check it out. Also you should be receiving a housing packet from Student Affairs in the next few months. The only places I can tell you about are Granada (don't recommend) and Lakeview (highly recommend).

Good luck,

njdo

Well I have the best GPA! Oh wait, that must be someone else. But I AM still the coolest! And PBL doesn't just think that we are the best pathway....
