LECOM-B not state certified

I heard from a doc (DO, not an MD) in FL not to go to LECOM-B b/c it is not state certified....but NSU is....

Does this even matter? , I read on their site that they have provisional accreditation.

With the extra work that I know I will have to put in to get a good residency, should I be concerned with such a new school. I don't care about the name ...I don't have to boast that I went to Harvard. I don't care as long as I am a doc....

I really liked it (LECOM-B),and want to go there, but all this is scaring me.

Any facts/ comments would help.

It's my understanding that they can't be certified or accredited or whatever until they graduate their first class... I could be wrong on this... but that's my understanding right now.

It's a nice school.. I was just accepted there today.. !

Yes, the normal accreditation procedure is provisional accreditation until graduation of the first class. When this happens, in 2008, there will be full accreditation. This is the procedure for a new school.

Just make sure they are passing all of the 6 stages(phases) of the accedidation process. If they are not, then you should worry.
