27P MCAT with a 3.4 GPA and 3.2 BCPM

Has anyone who has already interviewed stayed at the Hampton Inn in Ellenton and used their Sarasota airport shuttle and the shuttle to LECOM? I was just wondering how easy it is to use and if I need to call ahead of time to use it. Thanks!
 
They said that they'll mail out acceptances, but do you guys think it is appropriate to call and ask?
 
I called because my letter did not come as expected and I had an interview scheduled last Friday for LECOM-Erie. I knew I would go to Bradenton over Erie so I called last Wed to ask what the decision was and they told me that I'm in.

I interviewed on Monday 10/1 and asked on Wednesday 10/10. I think my mail actually got lost (still no letter) so they're sending out another one.

They're very nice...can't hurt to ask.
 
I intervied last friday and just found out today that I got accepted. So excited, loved LECOM. Good luck everyone.

The Hampton inn is 10 to 15 minutes from the school. As for the shuttle?? I rented a car for the day. The Hampton Inn is nice and next to 75.

I had a 3.35 science and a 3.3 non-science gpa with a 27N mcat. I also had research and some other volunteering.
 
Just giving some hope:

3.4 cum GPA, 3.8 science, 28R MCAT. Work in ER. Not a ton of volunteering.

Accepted!
 
Anyone interviewing on Halloween? What is Bradenton like?
 
Yeah, how'd the interview go? I see you brought some rain with you as well.

We've got our first big PBL test on Monday so you probably saw a lot of stressed out 1st years with their heads in books.
 
The interview was fine. The two guys who interviewed me seemed like good guys who really believe in what they're doing. Overall, I really like the school. I think PBL would be great for me.
 
I head back for an interview from Erie a few days after completion, but absolutely nothing back from Bradenton at this point....I've been complete for about 3 weeks. Should i call and bother them, or just chill? not really sure how LECOM works so i'm not sure of what to do..
 
I was the complete opposite i heard back from bradenton within a week of being complete...and erie took about 3-4 weeks before i heard back from them so if its been over a month u might want to call otherwise just relax i guess...if thats possible
 
I'm really excited if you can't tell. So a couple hours after getting an email saying my file was complete I got a phone call about an interview invite. I was very surprised. Anyone else interviewing Nov 12th? I have to go buy a suit now.
 
I posted this in the rejection thread but thought I would post it here too. No chance for acceptance this year at Bradenton. My husband and I both just received our post-secondary rejection letters. I have to admit it does hurt because this school was one of our top choices just based on what we knew of it. Plus my mom lives not far north of Bradenton but I don't know if that would have been a positive or negative (long story). Congrats though to those with interviews and I hope you all will get in!! :luck:
 
That's pretty interesting EEL. The reason I applied to Bradenton was because my mom was living near Orlando. I wasn't so sure I wanted to live near her either.

:laugh: Well to make a long story semi-short I moved in with my dad when I was 13. When I was 15 my mom and stepdad moved and didn't tell us where they went. Seven years later they finally get in touch with us and are living in Hawaii. I spent an awkward month visiting my mom in Hawaii after I graduated college in 2001. In February 2007 they moved from Hawaii to Florida and stopped by to have dinner with us on their way through and I haven't heard from her since. How's that for strange? :laugh: Like I said, may be good may not. The decision isn't mine anymore though which is probably for the best. Being by one's parent(s) isn't always the best idea.
 
That sounds like it must have been a very hard time for you. Nobody should have to go through something like that at such a young age. I can definately understand the mixed emotions. Although not quite the same, my mom had some "issues" when I was sixteen and I was basically left on my own from that point on. I ended up getting married at 17 and was dead set on going to college no matter what and with absolutely no support. I had to do a lot of things and make a lot of decisions based on survival between about 16 and 22. I tried to explain this in my PS to which everyone has really seemed to understand except that guy at KCOM. He ran over and over again and questioned basically every little move I made during that time and basically made me relive and rub in my face some of the worst years of my life. It was so horrible. He went to one of the most prestigious colleges in the US for both undergrad and his PhD. It was just so obvious that he could not understand anything about having to really struggle in life and not being able to make any decision you want to. I have no idea why he was aiding in selecting people who are suppose to be compassionate to people from all walks of life when he had absolutely no compassion whatsoever.

It was definitely hard at the time and still bothers me on occasion. It sounds like you have gone through a lot too. If I were interviewing you I would definitely be impressed by how you've made it through and persevered to this point. I would accept you in a heartbeat!! 😀
 
I think, when stuff like that happens, you can move on and get over over it but you can't really forget about it and I think that's OK and normal. Congratulations on overcoming something like that bc I know all too well that a lot of people in similar situations don't!!

I definitely agree. I feel like I'm a stronger person now, although still sensitive 😛, and I've grown from the things I've gone through. I admire you for all you've overcome. I was so immature in high school I'm really not sure I would have made it through what you did nearly as well.

And I think we've officially temporarily hijacked this thread. 🙂

has anyone used Primetime Limousines? Are they pritty good? I'm now considering flying to Tampa as opposed to making a 10 hour drive by myself. I'm interviewing monday.
 
primetime limo is an hour to the Hampton Inn,(from tamp airport) which in turn is 20 min from LECOM.
 
Well I'm pritty sure I'm going to fly now I hate long drives by myself. I'm going to use Primetime limos since they are way cheaper than the hampton inn shuttle. I hope its not too late to make reservations with them.
 
I had no problems getting a cheap flight from VA to Sarasota airport...which is MUCH closer to the school than the Tampa airport. It might be cheaper to rent a car for a day. Enterprise is really cheap (like $40 a day) and you get a car to go check out the area in...
 
All the flights I looked at were a lot more to fly to sarasota. And I'm told it will cost a fortune to rent a car since I'm under 25.

Do you usually get a call from them if you get an acceptance? I had interview there this past Monday and I really loved the school and especially the students. Unfortunately, I had such a bad flu that Sunday/Monday. They told us that the committee meets every Tuesday. So, that means our files went through a review. But as of now, no news.

Did you drive? I live in Houston so I'm definitely flying but just wondering..

Yes, I drove from Orlando (Oveido) in the morning. It took me just over 2 hours if I remember correctly. I got there at 7:40, just in time to check in and go to the bathroom since I tend to drink the largest diet Mt Dew I can find on mornings of my interviews. It calms me down and makes me pee.

I left the house running behind about 30 minutes from what I expected bc a million different issues happened. I think I walked out the door at 5:30 but had planned on 5:00. I don't like to waste money either so I think it worked out best and I like driving and I got there on time. I also think I would have gotten there faster if I had left by 5 bb cars were just starting to get packed on the interstate as I was driving through Orlando at about 6:00 - 6:15.

Just wanted to let you know also that this forum is not male dominated. The girls just usually don't participate in certain discussions. 😉
 
wow you're brave, i think i'd start freaking out if i was running late... and i'm bad with directions so i have to add about 30 min extra of getting lost time... i'm still undecided if i should even leave that early or just get a hotel room the night before...
 
Don't risk it. Get the hotel. What if you break down or something? I suppose you could call and re-schedule, but they might not have anything for like a month.
 
That was the one and only time I have ever driven in Florida. The drive was pretty quick and easy and beautiful. My mom's fiance gave me directions to take the scenic route home. It was breathtaking. The tolls roads, however, are enough to make a person never want to come back, even though I did have a sun pass. My SO drove us out of Florida and into Georgia. We probably had to pay $10 just to leave Florida. I'm sure people love Florida, I'm just not into toll roads.

Really the only toll roads area around Orlando and there are a lot of them!! The only other place is the Florida Turnpike but you can avoid that very easily. But Orlando is awful for tolls I used to live there and paid like $40 a month👎
 
Yea, unless you live in Orlando you won't be using the toll roads a whole lot. When leaving Orlando using the toll roads and turnpike to pick up I-75 is just easier, but can be avoided.

There are some toll sections in and around Tampa, like going over the Skyway bridge into/out of St. Pete on I-275 and short section of toll road that comes I-75 that dumps you off in downtown tampa to bypass some I-75/I-4 traffic.
