I need help deciding which one to attend. I have been accepted to one and had a very strong interview at the other and am expecting an acceptance. As I weigh out my pros and cons for each they all seem to balance out in my mind. The biggest difference is lecture at GA-PCOM and PBL at LECOM-B. I do understand that they are both new schools without board scores and match lists but that does not bother me. I know if I work hard, I can get any residency I might desire and will pass the boards. If anybody has any opinions on which they would choose, please share! Thanks!

Hello,

I think you should attend GA-PCOM because it is a great school in the making. I am a part of the first class and feel good about my decision to attend GA-PCOM. Of course there has been bumps along the way, but that is to be expected being a new school and all. The point is they are working hard to ensure our success and the success of the classes to come. This is my opinion, but in the end it all comes down to where you feel comfortable. Oh, lectures are not that bad. 🙂

Good Luck

Thanks. Does anyone else have opinions on the 2 schools? What about on PBL vs. lecture?

does anyone else have any thoughts on these two schools?

Personally, I'm picking LECOM-FL for my school solely based on the PBL. That was a HUGE selling factor for me, and overrode the newness of the school, the miniscule library, etc.

I would base your decision on the curriculum, what I see as the sole major difference between the two. Do you think you'll thrive better in PBL or LD? That is the question.

I applied to both, got accepted to both - and currently attend GA-PCOM. Furthermore, I call the Tampa Bay Area home, so LECOM-B was only a 45 minute drive away from Mommy and Daddy.

I chose GA-PCOM over LECOM-B because:

1. lecture, over PBL
2. Real cadavers that we the students get to dissect, over prosected specimens.
3. a class of 85 over a class of about 150 (150 ain't that bad though)
4. Dr Evans and Dr Watson - our Dean and Head Basic Science Dude are truly wonderful - did not get that feeling from LECOM-B (but I'm sure they're good too)

These were my reasons. Both scools are near big cities, so that factor nulled itself. In any case, we hope you come to GA-PCOM
