Hey Guys,
My friend just completed a secondary last week from there, how long did it take for an interview invite?

Thanks for any input
I sent my secondary on 11/26 (priority mail with tracking). LECOM received it on 11/29. I received a post card on 12/2 confirming that my application had a complete status. On 12/8, I received an interview invitation (the letter was dated 12/6).

Hi All,

I just was wondering who thought about securing a place to rent a few months prior to the start of school. I was thinking, if I find an apartment within the next month or so, who says it will be available in June or July? Is anyone else thinking of signing a lease and paying three to four months rent in advance?

congrats to all new lecomer's, good luck in the future and welcome to the big show!

i don't know if a seperate thread was started for the bradenton people, but it doesn't look like it, if there is please some one let me know.

room for rent
1900 sq ft home 3/2, about 5 miles from bradenton campus 12 miles from beach, current residents are 2 class of 2008 students-male and female, looking for a female to share bathroom with other female, or friendly super clean male will be considered, guys that cannot work a toilet seat or deal with a female sharing bathroom counter space need not apply, bedroom is 10 x12, no pets please, 3 way split utilities, easy going-pleasant roommates looking for the same.

Just curious to see how everyone is progressing in getting their financial aid, background checks, and immuns. taken care of!

i have all those papers still sitting on my desk. hopefully once i get through this next set of exams next week i'll stop being so lazy and finally get to them. is anyone going to be in erie during spring break by any chance? i'm going out there to check out apartments and it would be cool to meet up with a soon-to-be classmate.

When is your spring break? I am planning a trip in a few weeks around March 11th or so....if everything works out alright with the work schedule.

i'll be heading out there on april 1st for a couple of days. after you come back, post up your recommendations for apartments. i'm sure we'd all like to know the situation out there.

I am a 2nd year student who will be leavin when you guyz arrive. I am going to do you a BIG favor,,,,the biggest headache of my first semster was finding a nice place,,,setting it up so I could study, be efficient and have a fun place where i could invite my friends over and have fun, once in a while. I have an awesome apartment not more than 2 mins from the school which is set up really nice. If someone wants it they can take over the lease and keep all my cool furniture...i have all ikea furniture, nice, sleek, modern and most of all efficient. I have many boooks that you will get with the apartment including, desks, comfy chair, sofas, dressers, recliner, the whole bit. Anyone interested in dropping by an taking a look can email me and we will set somethin up. Good luck and you have no idea what is instored for you. Get plenty of rest before Anatomy begins.
ps my email only to be used if interested in the apartment [email protected]

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'll be down in Erie on March 18 through the 20th. If anyone is interested I would be interested in meeting up with future classmates. My dates of travel are somewhat flexible; if individuals would like to meet up at a later date, Just let me know. Looking forward to working with each of you in the coming years. 🙂

What about the possibility that we set a date that as many of us as feasibly possible could meet up in Erie? It sounds like were all planning on attending sometime in mid-march (spring break). Let me know what all of you think??

I plan to be there myself that weekend through the 22 or so. Checking out housing and schools for my kids. Maybe a few more will post and we could meet for lunch or something.

If you'd like a few of us can meet up on March 18th if you can...It'll give everyone an opportunity to meet up with other classmates, let me know if the 18th will work for you?

Sounds good to me. I will be arriving there early A.M. and can make lunch preferred. Plan to be asleep by 6pm since I will have been awake for 24+hours.

Hey LECOMers,
My friend just got an interview invite for March 11th, any pointers or what to expect for the day? Thanks for any input!

Rock on Class of '09!

Just wanted to say hi to everyone...I was accepted to the PBL pathway for Class of 2009. I am currently a Post-bacc student at LECOM, so I can try to answer any questions anyone might have. I am anxious to finish this semester, take a few vacations in the short summer that we have, and get into the swing of things in late July.

Congratulations Kevin....I'm sure it is well deserved. Anyways, a few of us would like to meet up before classes begin would you be interested possibly on March 18th for lunch? Let me know, and spread the word ...

this stinks...i won't be able to come out to erie until 2 weeks after you guys are meeting up. 😡 if you can just post up your experiences, tips on where to look, etc after you get back i would really appreciate it. hopefully it's still not snow season when we go out there.

On saturday I received my housing information/Roommate list from LECOM. Has anyone had an opportunity speak with anyone on the roommate list and if so, how did it work out? Be sure to pass on any information concerning this, I will begin making contact this week if all goes well. See you all soon
- Chris

I just got my roomate match list as well! I did hear from a couple of people several days before I got my list, so I imagine others got the list a few days earlier. I will be in Erie Thursday and Friday of this week checking out places for rent. I will post my findings and such when I get back. If anyone will be up there this week let me know!

The Flexible and Easy Going person on the List 👍 ,
Will

Oh....I will be primarily looking at 2-3 bedroom apartments and houses, preferably places with a garage!

Have you successfully found a roommate match yet?

Is anyone planning to or at least considering running for 2009 class president at LECOM or any other offices ? If so, has anyone heard any information as to the process and when elections are scheduled?

i received the "housing package" last weekend but i haven't contacted anyone. it would be great to have someone else to goof off with but i don't want to risk rooming with someone that's not compatible with me. i might just be by my lonesome self this year while i get to meet and know everyone and room with someone next year.

about the elections, i would assume that it would be announced during orientation week and then elections right around then (maybe a couple of weeks after?). that's just my guess though....

I wouldn't say that I have successfully found a roomate yet. I told one person (that called me) that I would call them back after my trip and report what I found. This individual would prefer to have a three bedroom place with two roomates. Not a bad idea, because it cuts costs down and the amount of items each individual will have to bring (being able to split things up). So, that idea would require us to find another roomate! I am still very much up in the air as to what I am doing, and am still in the process of looking for a roomate. This is such a hard process with everyone being so far apart, it is difficult to make any definite plans. I see that several of ya are meeting around the 18th, and wish that I could make it. I am trying to work something out with my boss, to see if I can make it to Erie. It would be geat to meet some of ya! I am pretty flexible person and get along with everyone for the most part. I don't see myself having compatibility problems or any of that! My aol messenger name is the same as my sdn name, or PM me for my email. Feel free to drop me a line! ( Hope that didn't sound too much like a classified 🙄 )

if you guyz are looking for 2-3 bedrooms and want to be close to lecom try the complex behind royal villa or the apartments by lakeview realty.

2nd year pbl lecomer

does anyone know if you have to call apt complexes ahead of time to make an appt to meet with someone or can you just show up? also, i've never had an apt of my own so how does the whole procedure generally work? when i go, will i be placing my name on a list or will i actually be signing a lease that will be effective on a certain move in date? sorry for all the questions but i'm trying to make my trip as hassle free as possible.

thanks,
mark

In the past I have made appointments ahead of time to view apartment complexes. It may or may not be necessary (at the discretion of the complex), but it has saved me a lot of time in the past. Upon your arrival you will meet an apartment representative who will show you around the complex and will usually have an opportunity fill out an application if you choose. If you choose to complete the application you will than be given the opportunity on the application to fill in an expected move in date. If you have any other questions please feel free to send me a quick message.

Hey,
I know many of you are looking for places to live and coming into town....my fiancee and I are leaving this place at the end of may and think its a pretty good place with a close location to school. We came back to erie to finish up and had a hard time finding places with short term leases (6mos) but found a great place. Its part of a duplex, perfect for a couple as its 1 bdrm, with W/D hookups, frdge, oven/stove, huge basement 450/mo. I also endorse the Scenery Hills apts (maleno reality) where I lived MSI - MSIII.
Also, knowing many are coming into town....Im selling a bunch of books....bargain prices. PM me if interested.....gotta lot!!!

I am currently a LECOM MSIII. When looking housing you probably want to stay on the West side of town (where LECOM is) all the housing is about the same price and the traffic in Erie is very minimal. Most of the students choose one of the apt complexes in the packet LECOM hands out. I found my house in the paper by chance. Just about everything in Erie is dirt cheap so that is not a problem. Most students live between Upper Peach and Sterretania, west 26th and Zimmerly road. If you draw that square on the map of Erie, you will find that LECOM is right in the center. You shouldn't have a problem. 🙂

Thanks for the information, I'm heading down that way on the 18th of March...can you recommend a good place for a few of us incoming LECOMers to meet up for lunch?

I attached a .doc showing my book sales. All prices are negotiable and Im not holding books for people (I will sell them first come, first served). I wont be mailing these out, so youll have to be in erie to get them (sorry, but I know many of you are planning on making the trip in soon) Let me know via PM if you are interested.

yes you can do a DO residency and get an MD fellowship.

stomper,

i dont mean to ruin your book sale but i was just wondering what books you would suggest are "must-haves" and what you can do without. also, i have a lot of texts just from this year since i take my classes with MS1s but they are different than what you have listed as your texts (ie. different authors/editors). will this matter that much?

Hello all....I just got my acceptance letter last night!! I wanted to introduce myself and start corresponding with the Class of 2009.

I'd like to make it up to Erie to meet and greet a few of you on March 18th. I'm trying to shuffle a few things at work so I can make it up next Friday.

Please feel free to PM me, I'm in the ISP-pathway and would definitely like to start talking about getting a study group together, I taught histology at Kent State if anyone needs some help in that area!!!

Best wishes to all!!!!

good questions....and it wont ruin any booksale.
I cannot say which are must haves.....its more upto you and what type of studier you are. Me, I used the "texts" as more of reference, and studied out of the board review books (personally my must haves....BRS path, First Aid, Stepup, OMT Savarese, BRS physio, micro made easy...or something like that, BRS biochem). As far as the editions go....I dont think that matters much. Usually not much is different between the 3rd and 4th editions or something. Everytime Ive seen it, its very minimal.....usually only covers, or fixing typos.
Similar things for rotations. Some rotations youll need a few good texts, others you wont. But dont buy books for every rotation.
stomper

thanks for the tips. like i said, i have some of the texts already because of the program that i'm in now but i actually found myself using the review books to study (BRS, etc) just because it's much more concise and to the point. i'll send you a PM before i head out to erie to check on "inventory" though. 😉 maybe you'll still have some of the good grabs.

Hey everyone,

It is very cool to read all the posts from future classmates.

I was accepted in early November and just recently found this forum.

I will be going to Erie the weekend of the 18th to look for a place to live, but I don't think I will be in town until early on the 19th which is a Saturday.
If people are still in town, I would like to meet everyone whom might be meeting up for lunch or catch a some march madness action at a local pub.

Count me in for any flag football teams or any other sporting teams.
I just recently got done playing in a flag football league thru the Silverdome in Pontiac, MI.

Hope to meet everyone soon!!!

I've decided to elect myself temp. class president. My first rule is that everyone has to wear name tags with their screennames during the first week of school.

and I officially retire as class president.

Hi all-
I was accepted in January, and just found this thread today...
Just wanted to say hello to my future classmates. I'll be joining some of you in PBL, looking forward to meeting everyone in the end of July.
Also interested in buying a house in the area, so thanks in advance to all those that post real estate info.

I was accepted November 1, 2004, and haven't been frequenting SDN for quite some time. I will be coming up to Erie this Friday (March 18) to meet my new peers. Are we all just meeting in the lobby of Daemon's? We might want to get a head count of the number of people we are expecting to show up. Take care.

Congrats esmith24 and welcome 👍

Just grab a big table in front of the big screens. Youll have all 4 screens going with the Madness.
