Did anyone else apply to LECOM - Erie? I just got my acceptance letter today. I'm still not sure whether I want to go there or to Ohio State. They said to give 3 weeks for the letter to arrive, after which we would be allowed 2 weeks to submit $500 (non-refundable) to secure a spot. That would have worked out great, as it would have given me time to hear back from OSU, whose interview was scheduled 3 weeks later. I just got the acceptance letter today, and the $500 is due monday, before I even have my OSU interview!!!

Decisions, decisions!!!

[EDIT]: thanks pharm B !

I'm accepted too! Haven't decided if I'll attend yet, though!

But apparently I'm giving them everything I'll be earning from my job this break...thanks, LECOM! haha

ps...pwnttothemax...don't I know you? 😉

Were you interviewed or did they accept you solely on your application?

yeah, interview required. it was pretty intense too

recently accepted!!!!!😀 Been looking at the housing in Erie. Im interested in laurel springs or any apartment within 15 minutes walking distance to the LECOM building. Does anyone have any website links for more information on this or perhaps can anyone describe the housing process to a newbie getting ready for life in lake erie :luck:

Another question. Is it hard to get into laurel springs?? I heard there's normally a wait list, is that true?

I interviewed on January 20th and just got my accpetance letter today. I am pretty sure I will be attending this institution because of the 3 year condensed format and really think Pennsylvania would be an interesting place to live.

For those of you who will be starting the class of 2013 with me and are from the surrounding area, can you give me any tips on housing?

Just out of curiosity, what were your impressions of this school. I really liked it and think it will be a pretty laid back place. Also, the tuition seems really reasonable compared to other private schools. It's definitely more than in-state tuition in my home state, but believe the 3 year format will cancel that out and then some because I'll be practicing a year earlier. Your thoughts on this?

Look forward to seeing some of you in August!

Hi slatenator! I interviewed on the 20th as well!!!! look forward to seeing you in erie soon :]

Ive been looking around sdn for information but im still a quite confused. Do people apply for apartments well in advance (like right now?) Or do people fly in a month early to go apartment shopping? And how do people find roommates? I see a lot of people that find roommates straight from sdn here, does it really work?

I interviewed there late last week and I was wondering what your status portal said before you got your acceptance letter? I'm still waiting to hear back and my portal changed from "it was a pleasure interviewing you..." to " the admissions committee has not yet made a decision on your file. We will contact you once a decision has been made". Some that have been accepted said that their portal said "A decision has been made. We will contact you within 10 days". I'm hoping that I got accepted because I feel my interview went very well and that school is my top choice. I'm thinking that they might've put me on their "alternate" list...

Your status will not change until you pay your deposit. They wont call you, they will send a letter in the mail regarding your status.

I would highly recommend that you take the OSU offer if you are offered a seat, but pay the deposit when the deadline approaches - even if you haven't heard from OSU yet.

i got an interview at lecom-erie 2/10/10, who else will interview that day??

I'll pull a Hannibal lecter and wear your face as a mask if that gets me to OSU 😡

Hey congrats to you! When did LECOM receive all your documents & how long did it take for them to reply back to you? They just received everything from me last week so I'm under review now! 🙂

PS do you mind sharing your stats?!?

I sent my Pharmcas in november, but I sent my supplementary app in the end of December. Lecom sent me an email the next week saying that they would start reviewing applications mid January until mid February and would interview until mid March.

My stats are - I have a 3.5 GPA over all--it's higher if you only count pre-reqs. I received a 62 percentile on my pcats.

I actually talked to someone who called admissions because she was worried... and they said that 50 percentile is good on your pcats, also they asked her what she got in o-chem and told her that good grades in ochem really impress them. good luck!

well, I also applied to LECOM at erie, but I am still waiting for interview latter (since I took my PCAT in Jan 2010)

So can you tell me what are my chances for LECOM if I get Jan PCAT score 55 composite?? My current cumulative GPA is 3.56.

Thanks a lot ....

Thas for the insight gknee 🙂...i'm in a good ballpark area so hopefully i'll hear from them soon.

@nextyearrx, your GPA is great & if i'm not mistaken I went to an open house LECOM had in the fall and they said average PCAT score was 50's above, so yes you have a shot too!

Um, portal? Shows you how much I was listening at the info session before the interview. What portal are you talking about and what is the web address? Is it in PharmCas that you're talking about?

I just Fedexed the $500 deposit and signed form on Sunday and was planning on calling the following Monday to make sure they've gotten it already. My admissions is also depending on me passing an O-chem lab that I'm currently in.

I'm getting the impression that it's kind of hard to find apartment really close to the school, or at least there is a waiting list for some. I didn't ask but assume because this school is small and private there is no school affiliated housing.

Anyhow, I have a really good feeling about this school and am looking forward to going. I've been to nothing but state schools for my undergraduate and Master's degree program and think it will be a nice change of place.

One more interesting thing about this program - I believe they said that we can do the pharmacy rotations during summer semester at any location we want in the country. I'm not sure how hard it is to find pharmacies in other states to agree to take a LECOM student, but this opens up lots of opportunities. Does anyone know more pertinent details for doing rotations in locations other than around LECOM?😴

Okay nevermind.. the same portal we used to complete the initial supplemental application. Forgetful me.

According to Fedex, my $500 admission confirmation payment was delivered to the front office of LECOM on Wednesday, February 3rd but the portal still says "Decision to be made". It must take them a while to update this.

In the meantime, does anyone here know of any good apartment complexes around there? I'm going to fly up sometime in May to look and hopefully get things secured.

Thanks everyone!
Slatenator- They probably do take a little while to cash the check and update your info. We also have to go look at apartments. I have no clue what's around there.

Congrats to everyone who was accepted! I just sent in the deposit, looking forward to seeing all of you there?

How is everyone going about looking for apartments? I've been looking at a few such as granada apartments and laurel spring but is it hard to get into those apartments as it is very close to the school? I heard about waitlists from previous posts. should i call them now? or would it be too early?

Yea you should probably start looking...I stay in Erie now but went on to Craig's list to find a place, u'll be surprised about how many other students are looking for roomates on there...
Hopefully I'll hear from LECOM soon

Slatenator,

I e-mailed the admissions office a day after they signed for the UPS envelope which contained my deposit. They replied within an hour congratulating me and updated my portal to reflect the accepted status. In that same e-mail they attached a pdf of all the paperwork that needs to be filled out prior to matriculation. The e-mail will contain info on rules and regulations of LECOM, required physical, drug screen, criminal background check etc. I am not sure if they are still so quick with their turnaround time since I last heard from them in October. Shoot em an email or let me know if you have any other questions.

I called today (and also emailed) and they said the person in charge of this stuff for the Pharmacy school had been out sick this week and I left a message on "Tom's" answering machine. Could you PM we with the email of the admissions office just to make sure I'm emailing to the right address. I just emailed the general, [email protected] address. I'm not really too worried about this, just don't want to get screwed because something got lost in the mail.

during the interview, they informed us that we needed a car. Does anyone know when we will need it by? IPPE rotations or APPE? or right in the beginning perhaps?

From taking a look at the area, it looks like you'd need a car from the get go. I would think mainly for grocery shopping and quite possibly laundry if your residence doesn't have individual/floor laundry machines. Also, take the lake effect snow into account. It would be pretty tough to get around without one. Seems like the 10 day forecast always has snow right around this time of year: http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/USPA0509

Can someone that's already attending LECOM clue us in?

Update: Also, can current students list some of the apartment complexes that are next to LECOM? I'm only familiar with Laurel Ridge/Laurel Springs and Scenery Hills.

Thank you!

Hey guys I interviewed 2/10, just wondering how long until I would get a reply and also they said it would be sent by snail mail?

Ifailedmytest,

Funny name! Probably on the 24th. Your portal will say that the decision has not been made even as the letter is in the mail. They won't update it until you pay the $500 deposit.

Good luck!

I receive an email earlier in the week about an interview at LECOM and I have a question for those who have already been to an interview. What should I bring with me? And how relaxed was the interview because I have heard that it was both very relaxed and also stressful.

Thanks!

I interviewed 1/26 (Tues) and I received an acceptance letter via snail mail on 2/3 (Wed). They told me 2-3 weeks at the interview but it only took about a week. The envelope was on the thicker side. There were 3 sheets inside. If it's a rejection, there will only be 1 sheet. Good luck!

It was a relaxed interview for me. I loved the school. Bring your ID and a padfolio type thing to jot down notes during the presentation part. That's all you should really need though.

You're welcome! Your portal status will change when the committee meets. Mine changed that Fri afternnoon (3days after my interview) from "it was a pleasure interviewing you etc" to "a decision has not been made on your file. We will notify you when a decision has been made." Some other's that have been accepted had theirs say "A decision has been made. We will notify you within 10 days". Either way, you will know the committee met and you should receive a letter soon thereafter. Good luck! Let us know how it goes 🙂

Congrats on your interview invite! When did LECOM receive your supplement app? They processed everything for me last week so I know it may be to soon for a decision to be made for me?!? Also I thought LECOM erie sends invites through the mail, I guess I'll look out for something through the mail or e-mail :xf:

They processed my supplemental on the 2nd and received the invite through email on the 9th. Though unfortunately I had to turn down the initial invite because I have another interview that day and I haven't heard back about a rescheduled date. Good luck on getting an invite!

Hey does anyone know how often the admission committee meets? is it weekly biweekly?

Finally got the "official" email from admission confirming receipt of my $500 deposit on 2/15. I guess someone really was out sick and that was slowing things down. Look forward to seeing all of you in class!

Still haven't figured out where I'll be living but if you have any housing tips or questions don't hesitate to put them down here so we can all pool our head together. Peace Out.

starting pharmacy school at lecom erie and from lansing michigan

I had my interview at erie exactly one week ago. How much longer do u think until i recieve confirmation if i was accepted or not?
