Hello everyone,
I am a junior who currently enrolled in pharmaceutical science major.
I def. want to become a pharmacist one day.
After I graduate I am looking to apply for pharmacy schools.
Some of the schools that I have looked at are LECOM erie and MCPHS worcester.
The reason is that I just like their 3 year accelerated program and these schools do not require PCAT. (for LECOM if you have BS degree, you are waived. I am right... right??:scared:)
For those students who got accepted into the program, what were your stats??
Also,
are there any other schools that don't require PCAT if you have BS degree?
Thanks!

It's more appropriate if you post in the respective topics of the two schools here and here. Appicants post their stats there for either interview, admittance, or both 🙂
Also for schools that don't require the PCAT, you can check here as well
http://www.pharmcas.org/collegesschools/AAGRequiredTestsT.htm

However, I'd say don't just limit yourselves to schools that don't require the PCAT; it's not a hard exam, at all, and if you just finished your pre-req classes (1 year bio, 1 year general chem, 1 year organic chem, etc.), that material is still fresh and will help you do just fine on the test. Is there a reason why you would avoid it, if I may ask?

I'll probably take the PCAT like next year, which is my senior year. I would probably forget everything.
I'll most likely take the PCAT however. I already took it once already.
I liked my science and math scores which was 70 but I did terribly in verbal.
I asked both schools of their average GPA to get in and they said it was like 3.5-3.7.
I think that is kind of high. Mine is 3.21
No chance for me?

3.21 is not a bad GPA. If this is your junior year, I would try re-taking the PCAT (study with a review book, something like Kaplan, and buy the practice tests on the PCAT Pearson website because these people design these tests), applying to a few schools of your choice. If you don't get in, you can try studying very hard your senior year to get a better GPA (and better PCAT if necessary), and apply one more time. Also extracurricular activities count.

Worcester might be hard for you to get in just because they don't use the PCAT, so GPA counts more heavily. As a matter of fact, if your GPA isn't splendid (mine wasn't), then the more you need to work on other areas, like the PCAT. With a decent score on the PCAT, I'd say you have a good chance with LECOM Erie.

Don't worry too much about the verbal section; I'm pretty sure admission commitee looks at sub-scores, not just the percentile.

(Since my GPA wasn't that high, I actually only applied to schools that required the PCAT so that I have something else to lean on 😀)

Oh btw,
do you think there is an advantages of graduating BS in pharmaceutical science over like biology or chemistry??
and
how do you think of Touro College of pharmacy ny?
Thanks!!

No, I don't think there's an advantage of graduating BS in pharm sci over any other physical science/life science major. In fact, people who majored in pure chemistry are doing the best in my class. A solid chemistry background takes you far 🙂
I can't comment on Touro because I didn't apply there, but they do have a thread here. For any school that you're interested in, visit this forum to find out more what people think of them!
