Is it just me or does LECOM-Erie take a super long time to get things in the mail? I talked to them on the 3rd of November to make sure everything was complete in my file. They told me that a decision had already been made (why they couldn't just tell me over the phone, I don't know) and that a letter was already in the mail. Well here I am a week and a half later with no such letter. It is truly driving me insane! 😱 Has this happened to anyone else, or am I alone on this one?

Hey I was in the same boat. I didn't call but I was starting to go a little crazy. Just got my letter today and I am extremely stoked!!! It was dated the 7th and I got it on the 14th in california. A month since the interview and that letter was worth the wait. Good luck.

OH I KNOW! 🙁

I interviewed on the 29th of September! But, they were waiting for my August scores which they received on the 26th of October. So really, it hasn't been too long.

I called them last week and they said it will be here by Friday. I have so many knots in my stomach about this. Everything about my app was fine. The interview went superb. I even sent them a thank you letter and a letter of intent. The only thing I am worried about it that my MCAT did go down 1 pt. My writing went from a O to a R, but still.

OY, I just want these nightmares to end and just to know if I got in! My mom is attached to the mailbox and everyday it is, "Hun, it didn't come today." Oh well, I will know anyday now this week! :scared:

I heard that it was a small envelope but from a friend that got in, he said that the acceptance letter had 3 pages. So if the letter feels think maybe it is an acceptance? I am trying to find tricks to know if I got in without the trauma of opening the letter lol. My mom told me that she just cannot do it and I will have to come home to open it!

Good luck everyone!

The evelope is more on the thin side and is regular sized, I thought mine was a rejection at first, then saw, "Congratulations...." then I knew it was an acceptance.

I know so many things will be different if I get in and waiting I know will be worth it but it is taking such a toll on me.

Has anyone got rejected yet? I haven't heard anyone that has, and am starting to think I could be luck #1. 👎

If you have not received it after today, I would call again. I would tell them, " Hi this is such and such, I interviewed going on 2 mothns ago, and called almost 2 weeks ago and was told my letter was in the mail. I have a deposit due on December 15th and since LECOM is my top choice, I am following up in case my letter was displaced in the mail." 😉 It should've been in your mailbox by now. You never know, it could have been lost.

:barf: I feel sick hahaha. Yeah maybe. She told me last Friday, "It should be there within this next week." So to me that means by this Friday. Me and my mom are thinking she prolly saw the letter on her desk and was like "Woops."

Who knows. 🙂

Yeah, I know that around the time you interviewed the admissions office was having difficulty b/c Elaine didn't have any help. I'd give it 'til friday then, if not do what I told you above! 🙂

Hey Guys,

I have an interview coming up at LECOM in early December. Any advice? I have read the interview feedback forums, but all state that it is a standard interview with 3 basic questions: what has led you here since grammar school? leadership/conflcit resolution? something not in your file?

Anyone want to add anything else?

Thanks!

Naaw, they ask you about 10 questions total. My advice for you is to have an example to back up what you tell them, leadership roles, leadership style, communication skill--how they helped you in a situation, etc.

Check the interview feedback! :luck:

I'm still waiting for an interview invite. I sent in my application on November 1st, how long does it usually take?

Well, I had my stuff in by September...I sent the Erie one first, then Bradenton. But...Bradenton sent me an interview invite first, after about 2 weeks...then Erie sent me one the next week, but the Erie one was actually scheduled for a week before the Bradenton one. THEN, even though Bradenton was the second of the two interviews, I had an acceptance within 2 weeks....and it took Erie about 5 weeks to get back to me with an acceptance.

I was thinking that maybe if you choose a pathway other than LDP it takes a little longer...? Dr. Wise said first you are accepted, then you are considered for PBL/ISP. My letter was normal sized, but def. kinda thick. It had 5 sheets in it: the acceptance letter, an acceptance-into-PBL letter, a letter with deposit instructions, a PBL/LDP choice and confirmation page, and a future contact and roommate page.

The Bradenton letter was thinner. It had the acceptance letter, a deposit letter, and a future contact/roommate form.

Good luck, guys!

Did anyone get an invite to Campus Day? I am wondering if only people who got accepted get that. That is the only clue I have about whether I am accepted or not.

Yeah, I got an email invite to Campus Day as well, and I haven't even had an interview invite yet. I think they send it to everyone on their mailing list.

But they made their decision on me, so if it was a rejection, wouldn't they have taken us off their email list? Just a thought of hope! 😳

Perhaps- but if you were rejected, they'd probably keep you on their mailing list so that you will reapply in the future.

However, I honestly do not think getting a Campus Day invite has any relation to acceptance.

I'm sure you did fine- good luck!

Jezzielin,

I keep seeing you stress about a LECOM acceptance. Do you mind if I ask what about LECOM has swept you off your feet?

On a side not, you have done all you can do. You MUST let go of the future. Only then can it really happen.

I have never been though this before and I am a constant worrybug about everything. That is probably why I have been posting so much. Sorry about that. But LECOM was so friendly and I know who are "my" type of people. Also their clinical sites happen to be located minutes from my house in MI.

I have a long time boyfriend, soon to be fiance, and deperately want to be by him after my first two years. I am not trying to be annoying on here 😳 , sorry if I am coming off that way. Better I do it here than to my mother (imagine if I am going crazy here, what I must be like at home! )

Anyway, I like the smallness of the campus, tuition, cost of living, and I really like how this school was just not what I expected. I never considered much going out of state, but I just felt so comfortable there in my interview. I don't know.

It just feels like a great fit. 😀

I worked in undergrad admissions for 4 years counseling many students on which college is right for them. Although it is not med school admissions, there are many similarities.

I always said that only they can decide which school is perfect for them and it is that, "feels good/feels right" sense they get while being on campus that is a prime indicator, and they should ignore what everyone else says.

Good luck and congratulations on finding your perfect fit!

I don't think you are being annoying, this whole process makes most of us a nervous wreck! If anyone does find you annoying, they simply don't have to post.

I know for me, I like the fact that one can choose a pathway out of the three that is more suited to his or her learning style, add in the low cost of living, and very low tuition compared all the others schools (especially out of state tutition) makes LECOM-PA enticing.

You arn't being annoying, I was just wondering what you liked about LECOM. I am also originally from MI, so I can relate to that.

I agree, the different pathways, and the success LECOM-PA has had with its PBL students make it a very tempting choice. The low cost of living would also allow me to live alone, something I might not be able to afford any where else.

No no no, I was not talking about you! 😛 I am just apologizing to everyone lol. Not only am I a worrybug but an OCD apologizer!

Nothing but love Frog 😀

Mine was sent in around 10/27.. so I guess its the third week

Do you know the exact date you received an interview invite (and how was it sent)? Also, when is your interview scheduled for?

Thanks!

The invite was dated Nov 8, I got it over this weekend... interview scheduled for 12/9. I called to reschedule (try to see if I could get it earlier) they said they are already filling slots in for February, which I thought was very weird.

The invite was in a regular sized and a thin envelope.. i thought "oh, another rejection"... I finally opened it later that day... and it said.. "you have been selected for an admission interview"

Thanks for the info! I guess I can expect some sort of response this week.

I hear that some schools (PCOM-Pa, for instance) don't start interviews until later. So the interviews in Feb. do not necessarily mean that they are just for wait-list spots.

Congrats on the interview!

Thanks... From what I have heard (and read on SDN) it takes LECOM aabout 3/4 weeks turnaround time.

Good luck, hope you get one too!

Good luck everyone! It's the best feeling in the world when that acceptance letter comes in the mail! 😱

When and if anyone decides on going to LECOM-Erie, there is a thread started in the Osteopathic Class Threads for the LECOM class of 2010! I hope to see you all in there soon!!! 🙂

bump 😳 ...

Sooo soon! I hope 🙂

Is anyone else waiting forever, or is it just me??? 😳
