i was browsing through sdn interview feedback, and someone had posted that they were interviewed jan.13 and ACCEPTED MONDAY BY PHONE CALL...they told us that they were going to send out letters, letters to ppl who were rejected i assume since they obviously called the ppl that were rejected, they could have told us they were going to make phone calls...and they did so on mlk?

I noticed this as well, but I don't think it means anything, except they were maybe really interested in this particular student. They also said the admissions committee wouldn't meet till Thursday of last week. Sure, I could be wrong, but I still think those of us who didn't get "the phone call" have great chances. The acceptances in the official "acceptance thread" are all via snail mail. Just hang in there and keep checking the mailbox! 👍

so we weren't good enough to get a phone call...it was my first choice up till now, but if their going to play favorites like that then i rather go to pcom...

Do you really believe that one student out of all of them got a telephone acceptance on a day that the school was closed, five days before the committee was scheduled to meet? Or is this just a case of "You can't believe everything you read on the internet"?

I was accepted and didn't receive a phone call... I feel so used.

why would a person lie about that?

i didn't get in...i just called and asked 🙁

Hey sorry about that. Are you waitlisted at all or just not accepted?

If you are waitlisted, show them interest and tell them you really like them. I sent you a PM. Check your private messages.

Gosh, I am sorry about that, i am sure you will get into another place, so dont worry.

Does anybody know if they re-review your grades, or if they base their decision on the interview alone? It would seem reasonable to believe that if you recieve an interview they believe your stats are acceptable and would then base the final decision on the interview? Is this how it works at LECOM-Fl?

Thanks!

no, they dont re-review ur grades if u are rejected, u're just plain rejected, as I was. However, i think they only do interviews just cause they can, annette was telling me they are going to interview around 700 ppl and chose 150. If you notice from the interview feedback, they ppl they choose get easier and more interesting questions compared to the ppl who don't...my interviewers read the questions off of a list, while i know of one kid who was asked if he was a geek?

I'm sorry you didn't get in. That sux!

I got in and my interviewers read the questions straight from their paper, basically one would ask a question, then the other. The questions were taken almost word for word from the list of ~ten questions which is floating around this board.

Since the school is 100% PBL, they seem very interested in finding students who will suceed with this approach, something that stats probably don't really tell them. They seemed very interested in my work in groups and as a teacher, so if you have good group dynamics and communication skills talk them up. Bottom line - if you want to go to LECOM-FL, make sure that PBL is for you and be prepared to show it. Just my $.02.

My question was whether or not they re-review grades when making the intitial accept/waitlist/decline decision after the interview, or do they strictly examine the interview due to the fact that grades were looked at in order to recieve an interview. Does anybody know about how they evaluate you after the interview?

Again, Mz. Doctor, I am sure you will have great luck at other places, dont give up!

No offense, but it seems like the only people who could really answer your question are the ones sitting on the admissions commitee. We're just a bunch of opinionated pre-meds. You might try to ask the admissions staff your question directly, preferably after this cycle. Just a thought.

I am not sure about the inital process, but i do know about the aftermath. I was selected as an alternate, which by the way is not a waitlist, and called back to confirm my interest in staying on the alternate list. Colleen Hawk, who is really helpful and patient with your questions, told me that all the alternates are re-reviewed every wk or two. There is no ranking right now. But in about may or so they begin ranking and it is a more official waitlist.
She also made it clear to notify them of any changes to your file such as more courses, clincial experiences, anything...especially contact info. I sent a letter of intent to the Dean the day I received my letter and a new LOR from my employer. I also continue to attack them with weekly letters and phone calls. It will keep my file fresh and with new things to review when they do meet. Hopefully that will turn this semi-frown upside down.

Does anybody have any idea of what the acceptance rate is like at lecom (bradenton or erie) once you have already received an interview. Basically, how many of those interviewed are accepted? Any students or prospective students have insight to this?

Thanks!

I think it's really high (80% sounds familiar). They have to accept A LOT to fill their class of 150. This is what they said at my interview.
