I am seeing a lot of people getting IIs from LECOMs in August (or even July). After some research, LECOM is one of my top DO schools. My AACOMAS primary was submitted in early July, and I am hoping it'll get verified soon.

Does LECOM still have plenty of IIs and spots left? Does anyone know when LECOM slows down its II invite pace? Assuming I receive and submit secondaries starting late August/early September, will I still have a great chance at landing an II at LECOM?

My stats are 3.6 cGPA, 3.3 sGPA, 33 MCAT. Thanks!

You'll get an interview pretty much anywhere you want, lecom is a guarantee with those stats.

I don't think you are late into the game at all. Especially with your stats, you will have a good shot even during peak months!

you're probably all set unless you're really weird on the interview

LECOM interviews all the way through March.

Are those March days for the waitlist? Will the school get more demanding as the cycle progresses? I don't want to be in a position where LECOM only considers 3.8+ and 36+ applicants.

I submitted my AACOMAS early july, so I applied relatively early.

Anyone know numbers for interview acceptance rate? Because I think the LECOM interview is a bit tougher than just weeding out the weird kids ...

From last cycle:
Two people from my March interview group (including myself) were outright accepted to LECOM-SH and have matriculated, so March is on the late side but not always a straight-to-the-waitlist verdict. (Others may have been accepted and gone elsewhere, I wouldn't know).

At my April interview at LECOM-B, they said we were interviewing for waitlist spots, but I don't know when they filled up, and I know there was quite a bit of movement on that list.

Thanks for the info. I assume that an October/November interview date (assuming I complete late Aug/early Sept and actually receive an II) would still be very "in the game" and not at all disadvantageous?

Not necessarily. They figure in how many will drop the last minute, etc so they interview to ensure they have a full class. My first time I interviewed in March and was waitlisted. My second time I interviewed in Nov and was accepted by Christmas. I don't think anyone can really predict but earlier is always better odds.

LECOM never slows down their interview pace. They get 7000+ apps per year. They will interview 1000-1500 people for the ~360 spots (total at both PA campuses). The only way to get all those interviews in is to start early and end late. Its been like this for a while now, so they have it paced consistently. Even if their seats are full, they still interview for the waitlist.

LECOM-E tends to fill up around late Feb/early Mar, LECOM-SH might be a little later. That said, its a very fluid list, as they only hand out acceptances if there are spots available, so they won't for example hand out 20 acceptances for 15 spots, expecting 5 people not to accept. What they'll do is hand out 10 acceptances, then if 7 accept, they'll hand out 3 more acceptances, etc. etc. until its full.

LECOM also tends to have good waitlist movement, because of accepted people withdrawing after they get into MD schools off of a waitlist.

All that said, you have stats that might get you in to an MD school, so I wouldn't worry. You'll likely get in to LECOM even if you applied in December.

It will get more demanding, but your stats are solid enough that you should be fine.

Its definitely more than just weeding out weird kids, but that is definitely a part of it. I'm not completely sure, but I think its around 33%-50% of interviewees get acceptances. This is counting those that get off the waitlist and what not.

Thanks. I just hope that I am still considered relatively early for DO schools.

I am curious as to the number of people that actually turn in their secondaries at most schools. I remember reading that at PCOM, they received "8,300 applications", but only ~5,500 turned in secondaries.

Yeah, obviously not all will complete secondaries. Don't forget that some people apply and are simply below the cutoffs, so they never get a secondary, and in turn never had a chance to turn one in. That said, LECOM's secondary is cheap (comparatively at least, at ~$50) and it takes all of 5 min to complete (no essays), so I imagine most people who gets it will turn it in.

Also, just checked the applicants for LECOM-PA last year and it was ~7600.

LECOM is actually my top pick DO school. And I can only hope that I am still early. Submitting in early July has to give me some benefits.

Believe me, you're more than fine. I had similar stats (3.8 sGPA, 30 MCAT), and found myself kind of lost last year with a gap year. I was in a bad place mentally and did not think I would get in ANYWHERE, but applied to ~10 DO schools in late December/early January. I interviewed at LECOM-E and LECOM-B around late March, and spent about a week on the wait-list at Erie until I was accepted. Honestly, have confidence in yourself and the acceptance letters will find you. PM me if you'd like more information about LECOM-E...

But I meant July submission of primary, NOT July completion. I will most likely be complete by mid September.

The earliest you could submit your primary is June. The people that submitted the first day in June at best were complete late June/early July. You're still very early. I'm sure cabinbuilder still meant you were very early for submitting your primary.
