Hi All...I just got my first interview invite!!! I have it on December 1st at LECOM and I have no idea what they are going to ask me! Can anyone send some pointers my way who has already been through an interview there!! Thanks so much!!!! 🙂

Congratulations on the interview! You should check out the "interview feedback" section on the SDN homepage, which will give you lots of good information. I had my LECOM interview a few weeks ago and had pretty standard questions - why DO, why LECOM, tell us something special about yourself, etc. Very low stress. Take it easy, smile, and show 'em what you got.

Congrats on the interview invite! Which LECOM campus are you interviewing at? I'm going to be at Bradenton on December 1st.

I had an interview back in October. I posted the questions and a bit about the experience in the interview feedback section. Some questions might be different depending on where you are interviewing: is it Erie or Bradenton? I interviewed at Bradenton and thus had some standard questions about PBL, i.e, tell us what you know about PBL? how would you solve an argument with people in your group? and so on... You can always PM me for more information but the interview feedback section will have everything you need. That's what I used to prepare for my interview. Good Luck :luck:

I just had an interview on Friday, November 17th. The day started with a round table presentation of the different pathways, financial aid, organizations, and housing. We were also given a 1 and a 1/3 page article to read. One by one, they took us back to a group of 2-3 panel members for the interview. They asked what were my weaknesses, strengths, why I wanted to be a D.O., how have I demonstrated leadership, how do I handle conflict, when is a team approach better or worse than an individual approach, and how do I handle stress. Then they asked me to summarize the article I read. Finally, they asked if I had any questions. after the interview, they gave us lunch and took us on a guided tour. There were about 13 of us. Hope this helps and good luck. I liked the school a lot.

What are some good questions to ask the interviewers? Ask about their career? Or ask about the school?

I was interested in PBL so when I was done with the interview I asked them how they do the tests in that pathway. I was curious because it seemed like every group in PBL would learn different things. I didn't have a question prepared or anything, it was one that I just really happened to have. I also talked to one of the interviewers for a little when the other one was writing a lot. There was this strange akward silence so I asked the one guy about being a DO in the army because that is where he just came from. I don't think you have to ask any questions. Most likely a few will pop into your head while you are there. Good luck!

I just interviewed there yesterday and the interview was amazing! Dr. Buck is the man! Very low stress interview, or maybe it was just me lol I don't know but I think it went well and I would love to attend their school. I guess I'll see in a few weeks.

Good Luck to all that are interviewing!

One gentleman who was talking to us while we were waiting when the other interviewees were back in the interrogation rooms 🙂 , that they are not so interested in what you say, but how you say it. He went on to say that the interviewers are purposefully going to use tactics to make you feel stressed out or uncomfortable to see how you respond under a very stressful situation. As long as you are articulate, attentive, and show good enthusiasm for the school and osteopathic medicine, I think that's what they are looking for. Everyone who interviews is already a good qualified candidate, with exceptional achievements, experience, etc. As for particular questions to ask, I asked about things I specifically wanted to know about. I asked about their ISP and how those students did on the boards. I asked about their residency match programs. The interviewers are constantly scribbling notes about you, so I think you should definitely ask prepared questions to show a definite interest in their school, but as to what you should ask is entirely up to you. Just be yourself and let how you present yourself sell why you should be accepted into their program. Good luck.

i'm interviewing on the 15th too! i'm pretty nervous b/c it's my first interview, but this feed has been helpful, thanks everyone!

Don't be nervous. Be yourself. If you are don't worry about it you will do fine. Go over the ?'s on interview feedback just to get a feel of what you would say.

Good luck!
