I have my first interview at LECOM on the 13th and wanted any input from those who have interviewed there already. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks and good luck with the rest of the application process.

Oops, forgot to ask one more question. What are some cheap hotels around LECOM, I will be staying 3 nights because it was the cheapest flight schedule I could get and my financials are really tight right now.

Motel 6 is pretty cheap. When I interviewed I stayed at Day's Inn and it wasn't too bad- something like $70 with the LECOM discount. Now when I went back to Erie to find housing in April, I stayed in Motel 6. I fooled them by telling them I was there on "LECOM" business and they gave me the discount which is around $55. When I was forced to stay in a motel here in June, they still had my name in the computer as being from LECOM so again I got the LECOM discount.
Your best bet is Motel 6 if you want cheap. Erie has several hotels, but even with the discount, they're expensive. Plus, LECOM is easy to find from Motel 6.

If you want a more detailed description of the interview day, PM me.

Good luck,

The Downtown Holiday Inn was about 59.00 dollars with the LECOM discount. It was a pretty nice place; I stayed there every time I had come to Erie. As for the interview, it is really straight foreword. I would recommend reading over the interview section on scutwork.com. Good Luck on the 13th.

Thanks for the info everyone. Hotel discounts...sounds good to me.

Another question; should I rent a car to get around Erie, or can I just use cabs, train, or buses?

Try Microtel: http://www.microtelinn.com/

When I stayed there, it was $38/night. It was definitely no frills - single room with bed. But the place was extremely clean, and not cheap-looking. I don't know how else to describe it, but it was a very decent room. I've stayed at other, more expensive chain hotels that were simply nasty.

Located on the same street as the other hotels, very close to restaraunts and shiz.

Well, in Erie you can go by bus or by cab- there are no trains. Depending on where you stay(ie Hotel Central on Peach St.), like tkim said, you are actually within walking distance of several restaurants and fast food places. In fact, you're within walking distance of nearly everything that matters in Erie(you'll see what I mean) 😀 . My personal preference would be to rent a car- you're going to be here three days and I'm not a big fan of the other two modes of transport. I don't like the bus, my wife who takes it occasionally doesn't like it and I haven't heard very good things from other people. Plus, to my knowledge, the bus doesn't drop off very close to LECOM, so if you had planned to take the bus over, you'd end up walking a good portion anyway. I could be wrong, but I'll just say this- I don't know of any students that take the bus to fort LECOM.
I'll give you a few examples of places on Peach within walking(as in no more than 1/4- 1/2 mile or so depending on where you stay):
McD's, Burger King, Taco Bell, Panera Bread, Applebee's, TGIF, a few Steakhouses, Wal-mart, K-mart, Giant Eagle, etc. If you go farther north on Peach, you get more. Everything in Erie, like I said, is on Peach St.
