OOS
Pros:

  • starting hands on skills during D1 itself
Cons:
  • PBL (could be a pro as well)
  • newer than UDM
  • no recorded lectures
School 2: UDM
OOS
Pros:
  • clinical strength
  • know students and alumni here
  • closer to home (in terms of flight)
  • " "
Cons:
  • location
  • tuition
  • weather

not sure if i wanna specialize or not, so not considering that as a factor in my decision making

Would love to know what your final decision is and why? A follow-up comment on this thread after you start classes is nice to see too!

for what reasons 🙂
I go to LECOM dental and I would prob say the tuition and safer location are a big factor in this. I'm not too sure about UDM, but I highly doubt they have any pros that are worth 20 grand. Also, the added stress of living in a dangerous area just doesn't seem to be worth it.

I had a similar choice between temple and LECOM, and temple had some of the same downsides. However, one big upsides to both detroit and temple is due to the crime in the area, you have a large trauma patient pool. LECOM still has a very large elderly patient pool, but the Detroit patient pool will get you some more varied experience will trauma. I don't think that's worth 20 grand thou.

Feel free to chat with me if you wanna know more about LECOM

Hello, I see you are a current student at Lecom. I will be starting there in July. Do you like it there and do you feel you're getting a good education? I know all schools have their down sides but overall, what do you think? Any advice? Also, I was wondering if you feel purchasing an IPAD to take notes on is a good way to go or with the PBL, are notebooks fine?
