I've posted before, but I've recently been accepted into LECOM and was wondering what the best choice would be for me.

School 1: LECOM
OOS
Pros:
  • Cheapest (390k) for COA
  • Good clinical experience
  • Beautiful area and nice weather year round
  • No residencies so students get a lot of the harder cases
  • Access to diverse patient population
  • Collaborative environment
Cons:
  • PBL (not sure because i've never experienced it
  • Larger class size (150)
  • Newer school, not as well known
  • Strict rules
  • Very far from family
School 2: Midwestern AZ
IS
Pros:
  • Very close to home
  • Fantastic clinical experience
  • Get certified in implants, Invisalign, and lasers
  • No residencies so students do the harder cases
  • Famous endodontist and I've heard he send a lot of students to endo residency
  • Collaborative Environment
  • Newest technology
  • Access to diverse patient population
Cons:
  • Expensive (535k) for COA
  • Larger class size (143)
School 3: UW
OOS
Pros:
  • Fantastic reputation
  • Small class size (63)
  • Strong research opportunities
  • Very established program
Cons:
  • Expensive (520k) for COA
  • Students have to find their own patients
  • Old clinics and technology
  • Have heard of hypercompetitive and toxic environment
Summary: I was leaning towards Midwestern before I was accepted to LECOM, since it was so close to home for me and they have a very well known endodontist at the school. Since I'm not so set on specializing, I'm now leaning towards LECOM since it is way cheaper than UW or Midwestern.

It sounds like you want to go to Midwestern. I say do what you think will make you happiest, especially since you’re so close to home there.

Do you think it’s worth it for an extra ~140k before interest?

think of it as 30% more
30% longer (before interest) to financial freedom
30% longer (before interest) to retirement...
