hello, i need help please. i have been admitted to lecom in erie,pa and university of minnesota duluth . i cant decide between them. lecom is three years which means i can be out in the work force earlier and minnesota has such a great reputation and ranking. does a high ranking or high reputation make a difference when seeking a job as a pharmacist. any advice is appreciated

I don't mean to be rude but, whatever you decide, do it before the last round of interviews or before they rank us waitlisters for Minnesota! PLEASE PLEASE don't decide at the last minute!

I am biased toward Minnesota, but I hear that LECOM has a great three-year program. You should write down a list of pros and cons for each one. Consider cost and location, too...not just the program.

EDIT: there is an entire thread on here about whether or not reputation/ranking means something. Search for it.

It depends on what field of pharmacy you decide to go into...If you want to do clinical or research I would go to Minnesota because your employer will weigh what school you went to heavily (what I was told by several pharmacists I work with) when deciding to give you the job or if you want to go into retail but I don't think it will matter if you choose this option

FYI: The 18k figure is instate tuition. Out-of-state tuition is almost $30,000.

I am biased towards U of MN. It's a great program! I talked to few residency directors, and they told me that they believe U of MN graduates have better clinical knowledge compared to some other schools. So if you want to do residency in the future, U of MN would teach you necessary skills to be successful! As someone mentioned above, if retail is your goal don't waste your money going to U of MN.

Minnesota is AWESOME. Naturally, I am biased, but go with what is best for you based on your career goals. If you have any questions, feel free to ask🙂 I am on the Duluth campus.
