Has anyone been rejected from LECOM-Erie? Or if you know anyone that has... I haven't come across anyone that has yet and I am just curious...

Thanks

After 70+ views, no one knows of any rejections? What about waitlisted at Erie? I am starting to think I might be the first rejected! This is positive thinking, I know, but I am trying to prepare myself for the worst...

have you checked md applicants? even if there's no one from this year, you can see when people got their rejections last year. i'm hoping you get good news soon!

Thanks! Yea, I checked it out but there aren't so many rejections that I have seen. I guess I should take this as good news... 👍

Anyone waitlisted from here? If so, can you share your ECs/stats? Thank you! 😳

I hope you get in man. I doubt they would of invited you for an interview if you didn't meet their criteria so you are probably in a good position.

Heya, Ima gurl 🙄

Anyways, thanks ArmyDoc! Any support I can get is just wonderful right now. I am just pleasantly surprised that no one has been rejected/waitlisted here. Well I am sure people have, but no one that has posted on SDN.

((( :scared: )))

Hey FutureDoc, was this your first time applying? 😕

My friend was telling me that I first-time 'rounders usually won't get in...

I am not sure what to make of that... but I know this is my first time. Maybe he was talking about with my stats. I think they are decent except for my MCAT. But just curious thanks!

oh that's bull. I'm a first time applicant and I have two acceptances so far.

yep, first time applicant, and two acceptances too. jez, honestly, this whole application process is really stressful for many of us. expect that it is not going to be an easy road. when you accept that fact, it gets a lot easier.

Yes. It is my first time applying and I've received four interviews resulting in two waitlists and two acceptances so far. I didn't confirm my waitlist hold for LECOM-FL so I'm off of it. I didn't want to do PBL. Tell your friend he's full of it but then again maybe he's trying to comfort you. Either way, don't give up hope yet. Hope you'll hear from LECOM today!

Question... "No, really?" you say? LOL...

So it is officially one week since my decision has been made on my app (I went to the committee on 11/30). So, I am wondering... I know that the dean has to be there to sign the acceptance, if in fact I got accepted. And I know that he usually is not not in town, so my letter would be delayed...

I am hoping this is what happening...

BUT! LOL, does the dean have to sign rejections? Because if not, I think my letter would have been here by now to reject me.

I don't mean to be girlie, but I am trying so hard to hold on to my emotions on this. So is my mother, she is honestly getting upset too... She has already cried!

Anyway, can anyone take a guess on this one?

Much love, Jess

Yea, I have. I feel like a loser and embarrassed for doing so, but you guys are so good! Anyhoo - DON'T stress! It is a laidback interview... I don't know if this is true, but Dr. Wise I think plays a role in the admissions.

I thought he was HILARIOUS and talked to him for about a half hour while other ppl watched the Erie Community video. After the interview, Elaine told us, "Well, he will be helping in the process." Or something like that, whatever that means... I don't know if that was true. But just in case!

They come and get you to go down a floor to the interview room, so spark some conversation to show your personality to whoever on the panel comes to get you! Let them in the elevator first, etc. Just common curosities.

Hmm... Maybe ask anyone, like Elaine Morse, that might be involved in admissions questions, and meaningful ones, so they can remember you.

Make sure you thank them and shake hands too. Above all be yourself! Good luck to you! :luck:

Make sure to act interested and enthused about being there as if it's your first choice even if it's not. Don't let your guard down as anyone in the admissions office, even the secretary, can have a say in whether the school should or should not accept you. You can do this by asking inteligent/well thought out questions but don't over do it as it can be annoying.

Adding on to this, I don't know if you noticed FutureDoc, but alot of people that interviewed with us didn't look that interested! Dr. Wise was talking and all alot of people were doing was reading the info packet and totally not paying attention. I thought that might have hurt them a bit... It was just too obvious they didn't care what he was talking about.

Yeah. I definitely saw that but just thought they're doing me a favor 🙂. It was definitely hard having to sit straight up all day though. I was glad I missed my flight into Erie from Clevelan, OH. We spent a lot of time talking about that and my hometown and how it differs from Erie. They didn't have time to ask me all those questions but I think my personality came through. I felt good leaving that torture room.

Make sure you laugh at Dr. Wise jokes or at him but whatever you do don't roll your eyes. I saw that as well.

Um, Dr. Wise is the registrar. I'm thinking he doesn't have any bearing on admissions.

I didn't think so either, but I remember Elaine Morse saying that he would be helping with it. I don't know if that means sorting documents or adding in his impression of us. After all he was with us more than anyone else all day long...

Like I said, I don't know for sure but I just rememeber her saying that...

From what I understand, even the people who interview you might not have a lot of say about your ultimate acceptance. Every peice of the puzzel gets reviewed by this secret "admissions committee." So yeah, I don't think Dr. Wise had any thing to do with an acceptance, unless some one was a complete "jack @$$." Even Ms. Morse probably didn't have a say. She is the admissions coordinator.

So if the interview panel doesn't have much of a say who does? What was the point of interviewing? 🙁

Oh the interview panel has a say, but they are not the only factor. I think the admissions committee is seperate and they review EVERY THING in addition to what the interviewers write down, such as grades, mcats, ECs, personal statement, secondary, etc etc. The whole puzzle is brought in, not just the interview. That is why I doubt Dr. Wise or even Ms. Morse have something to say about an acceptance, unless it is drastic. So don't stress too much about the other people.

I am saying this because I was specifically told this at Bradenton by the librarian. He says that he just takes people for a short detour and entertains us (like Dr. Wise was doing) and makes sure we are relaxed. That is his sole purpose. Now if some one sticks out as being an odd ball, he might say something. Other then that, nothing is influenced.

I just want to wish you luck Jezzie....I can definately see that LECOM is very important to you. Keep your head up! :luck:

Yep Jezz,

Please do let us know at the hint of any good news.

Yeah, still waiting... I went to the committee now 8 days ago... At least after this, either way, I know I will be a stronger person - I have waited so long! lol

Does anyone have a comment about what I said before? I was just thinking that the Dean signs acceptances, but I am not sure about waitlists and rejections. So maybe waiting this long means they are waiting for him to sign it? (He isn't always in town, admissions said)

So if they are waiting for him and I haven't got it yet would be a good sign? And if I was rejected, I could possibly should have gotten the rejection by now?

Anyhoo - thanks again! 🙂 Love ya'll for waiting with me!

My bad 😳

For the LECOM interview, one of you posted the actual questions, and I thought that to be really nice, so whomever is interviewing KNOW THAT THOSE QUESTIONS WILL BE ASKED! Know about OMM and Dr. Still! So sorry you all are interviewing in sucky weather!

No one mentioned OMM or asked about it or anything during my interview. The only time OMM came up was when the student showed us the OMM lab. That was it.

Dang, Jezzielin, I can't believe you still haven't heard anything! I hope it's good news after making you wait all this time.
