For those who have received LECOM Erie and LECOM Bradenton Secondaries, when and how did you receive the invites? I just noticed that the 2005 Application cycle secondaries are online now.

LECOM requires all applicants to submit a LECOM Supplemental Application. The LECOM Supplemental Application will be mailed directly to applicants following receipt of the applicant?s information profile from AACOMAS. Applicants may also download the LECOM Supplemental Application from the LECOM website.

I downloaded the one from the web and converted it to a word file so I could use the computer to fill it out. I got the one they sent in the mail, but threw it away and sent them the one I downloaded. You can use either one. You can fill it out by hand if you want to.

How did you manage to convert a PDF to a word file? I found, "PDF2Word", but it's horrible and butchers the PDFs.

not sure how to convert to Word, but if you have acrobat 6.0 (you can download a trial demo online) you can edit PDF's. I haven't seen the LECOM secondary yet, but on some apps text areas are already embedded so you can type in them. Others you can just quickly insert text boxes and type. I can't seem to find a typewriter anywhere so thats what I have been doing.

I opened it up on the web page, changed the little hand to the text selector, copy/pasted everything into word.

It won't get the graphics so you have to do another thing to get those and the titles on tops of the pages.
Go back to the web page and hit the graphics select tool and draw a box around each graphic and copy/pasted each one separatetly and put it on the word doucument in the correct spots.

It takes a bit of work to get the format correctly, but for me it was worth it so I didn't have to hand write everything.

That's a lot of work. Scansoft's PDF Converter 2 does an OK job, but I'm going to try the Adobe 6.0 thing first.

NOTE: Just saw that VCOM already has a Word version. 🙄

My local library has self-correcting type writers free to use.

It would be nice if the apps were adobe files with type prompts built in.
