Really? that would take some pressure of the individual but being less personal, would it be beneficial? I certainly don't want to blend in with a group of students (in the interviewer's mind) when being considered for a spot
Oh, thx for the response. I guess im gonna cut n paste 🙂

From what I heard they're doing both the group and the individual interviews.

They are doing group interviews. I interviewed yesterday. Actually, it was much better than I though it was going to be and I enjoyed it. It was basically a group of people having a conversation for an hour. Relaxed.

Still seems odd. More like you're competing with the students sitting around you. Wouldn't that kind of atmosphere be condusive to trying to one-up the guy next to you and/or make them look bad?

Yeah, and not only that, during my interview I want to be a one-man show. It's all about me, why I'm competing for this limited spot, and proving my case to admissions of my abilities. If it's like a chilled group chat, how can admissions actually recall anyone when deciding acceptance for a particular student? I'm sure if I had a group interview who had a nice time relaxing with the interviewers, we wouldn't be the only group that had the same experience.

That is exactly what I was worried about, but it didnt happen. In my group anyway, no competition. Everyone had an opportunity to let themself "shine" I guess. Yes, even though I enjoyed the interview I would have chosen one-on-one. I dont know how they will make decisions but according to my portal they already made their decisions, just dont know what.

This kinda makes sense to me though, seeing that both these schools have a PBL program where you have to be able to work in small groups. If you have someone who is constantly trying to show someone else up, then that person probably wont be a good group-mate in such a program...

Do you mind tell us how many people were in your group?

Six. Everyone had a chance to speak and everyone equally contributed to the conversations that followed.
My group had seven, and one of our interviewers wasn't even faculty/staff at the college - She was the wife of one of the owners, which I thought was kind of odd. It was definitely a low pressure setting, which was nice, but I would have much rather had a one-on-one interview to sell myself better. Osteopathic medicine and primary care weren't even mentioned in our interview session - Two things that I wanted to heavily emphasize my interest in during my interview.Six. So they only did group interviews or did they also do an individual one-on-one with the students?
They only did group interviews on the 25th. We were guinea pigs though, so it's anyone's best guess whether or not they'll keep doing those for the rest of the season or go back to one-on-one interviews. I certainly hope it's the latter. So they only did group interviews or did they also do an individual one-on-one with the students?

so i wonder if that means those that had the group interviews are gonna be called back in for one-on-one's too?
or maybe it was just so good a tool they already know who's being offered acceptances and what not.
i remember i had one of these group interviews for a scholarship during my freshman year. i was all about the one-up-manship, but i totally felt like a ***** afterwards. i think the interviewers catch on to stuff like that. they don't wanna see an a-hole who's trying to push through so hard. i'm sure they also don't wanna see some timid person who has managed to push themselves out of the conversation.
it's a crazy thing to manage...maybe. it was for me.
best of luck to you guinea pigs!

Nope - According to the online system, for everyone I've spoken with since the interview that is, they've made decisions on all of our applications with only the group interview.so i wonder if that means those that had the group interviews are gonna be called back in for one-on-one's too?
