I have read on thread that in past years LECOM's waitlist has moved quite a bit, in particular in the last few weeks. I am curious how that works? If the last round of interviews are in april or early may and students hear back and are even given like a month to pay a deposit, why has there been such an influx of waitlist acceptees in the past well into July? Anyone have any clue if the trend will continue this year as students wait?

Waitlist movement is a result of others gaining an acceptance at a school they were previously waitlisted at. This person then withdraws from, in our scenario, LECOM which opens up a spot for a different person who was waitlisted at LECOM. Or a person could simply withdraw from the school if they arent sure they want to attend.
We can only speculate on why there has been an influx of waitlist acceptees at LECOM in the month of july, and I havent seen any specific numbers on this.
I also can't say if the trend will continue but I can tell you this. I was on the "high hold" waitlist at FSU(rejected in late may) and am also waitlisted at USF. I was e-mailed specifically from FSU admissions saying that far fewer people withdrew their acceptance than in previous years and was expected. I have also heard rumors from current med students at USF that the incoming class of 2014, at this point, has MORE students in it than actual seats open. Again, this has to do with fewer people denying or withdrawing their acceptance. Bottom line is that ALL schools are becoming more competitive and you can't count on waitlist movement =(
