Anyone get in to LECOM (either) without a DO letter? Just curious as I don't believe I'll have one anytime soon.
To a DO. I cold- called an ER and asked to speak to a DO. I shadowed him for 6 shifts and he and an associate who is high up in osteopathic politics both wrote me letters. I think all DO schools require that you have a LOR from a DO. In interview you will prob be asked about OMM so know at least a little about it. Good luck!
I would say the opposite. Most DO schools dont. Alot of them recommend it. But only a handful of them require them
I applied to 10 of the 19 and they all did. Maybe one or two does not but I'd be surprised. I think Osteopaths want this fairly easy to comply with step to remain. Seriously if you can't find a physician who will write you a letter you are not trying.
Regards,
matt

I shadowed a few DOs and there was not one single bit of difference between anything DOs did compared to MDs.I shadowed 5 DOs and OMM didn't come up once. I don't care about the requirement, but it really is pretty arbitrary. The only difference I noticed was that the DOs ragged each other about what school they went to.
