Lectures on MP3

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Murdoch Univ provides lectures in MP3 format, although it is copyrighted material and they keep that under lock and key--i.e. you need a student number/pw to access the system and we can only access lectures for classes we are enrolled in.

I would think that any university is going to do the same--can't have the general public access information they aren't paying for and the need to protect the intellectual property rights of the instructors. Which is the same as if you 'audit' a class, at my schools in the states you were still supposed to pay the same course fees as everyone else (perhaps a bit less...) before sitting in on a class just to listen and not have to do any of the coursework.

Most of our professors allow students to place their recorder at the front of the class. Last year, one of the students would post the lecture on WebCT, but in our year, nobody bothers.

I don't personally find the recorded lectures useful, but I can see how an exercise buff or someone could. Or how a mother could be listening to them while feeding the baby, etc. It's a good idea.

Someone made a thread recently, about what kind of learner are you. I ended up being Tactile. Not sure what that means exactly, but it recommended that you always do something while studying (pacing, walking, music in background).

Well, recently I took to listening to recorded lectures while running (gonna try swimming soon as I figure out a way to waterproof my I-pod).

but anyway, for me, 60 min of listening to lecture while driving or running is more efficient then 60 min of studying at a desk.

I don't know why, its a bit counter intuitive, but if you are one of those people, def. look into it. You have to concentrate on the material however, i'm not referring to osmosis here.

I did ALL my exam studying (reading though, not listening) while walking on the treadmill last semester, it was awesome. Helped SO much.

Yeah, I do that too. I also like the stationary bike while studying.
