I applied to a T20 where my parent is an alumnus, although not a donor. I have stats that fit their medians but likely below average ECs and ORM. I am curious if the legacy would help elevate an applicant like myself? Would an interview likely be a "courtesy" interview in this situation?

This is extremely variable from institution to institution and even if you explicitly told us the name of the institution, it's unlikely any of us would be able to answer you in any detail. As a general rule, private schools are more likely to give consideration to legacy applicants than public ones.

If you get an interview, you're being considered for admission.

Thanks, hope you're right.

Agree with the above. My son was a double legacy at our institution. His metrics were within their range, but received the courtesy interview and permanent wait list. This school brags about legacy applicants and how large their alumni association is.We were also significant donors, or so we thought. A significant donor we learned names a building or a Dept Chair. We were not significant donors. Being a legacy will bring more attention to your app. Crush your interview! Good luck and best wishes!.
