Does anyone know if legacy matters when it comes to applying to residency programs (let's say my sibling attended an Ivy institution, is that same institution more likely to take me if I apply for a residency program there?)

Interesting question. Although there's no way to prove it, I have a feeling it's happened a couple times at my institution. Carrying a certain last name may open up more doors especially if your older siblings have done well and paved the way. I hope it doesn't happen.

Yeah, basically your average legacy may get the benefit of the doubt on various decisions where they could go either way based on your credentials. Unless there are buildings named after your family at the school, don't expect legacy status to augment your application to any significant degree.
