what do you guys do for fun as a nontrad applicant? I recently decided to quit playing video games (i.e. World of Warcraft, Diablo 3) because I thought I should do something more, adult-like... maybe I'll start training for a triathlon or learning how to cook Asian food..hmm:idea:

Learning to cook Asian food is a good idea. I love Asian food. Even though I live with a chef, I do the Asian food cooking in the house. It's easy and healthy (mostly). I am going to try to get back into working out as I know it helps with my stamina, which I need for MCAT prep. Getting rid of the video games is definitely a good idea.

I used to do 5ks, but I tore my meniscus and had to have surgery. I haven't been released to run yet, so in the meantime...I play a lot of Black Ops with my husband. We also have 2 kids, and my oldest plays softball, so that keeps me pretty busy. I also read. A lot. That's probably my favorite. 😍

I just bought a fixer-upper house that I'll be fixing up over the summer. Between that, studying for an MCAT retake, and doing secondaries, I think my leisure time is pretty well accounted for.

I've been spending a bunch of quality time with my guitars lately. I had gotten a bit rusty during the tail end of grad school, so it's nice to feel well-oiled and practiced again. Oh, and callused once again. 🙂

Reading, cycling, gym, guitar, specific video games at night if there's nothing else to do.

When class is in session video games and reading get moved to the back burner.

You just described me at 18... unfortunately I'm now 35. Only the cooking
Asian food still applies 🙁

What? It's never too late to learn a new language (a good way to avoid Alzheimer's disease).

Little League games. Little League tournaments. All Stars games. All Stars tournaments. Travelling league games. Travelling league tournaments. Beer.

That's all I got!

I've been trying to distinguish between activities that are 'mindless' and ones that are truly rejuvenating. My secret penchant for America's Next Top Model fits into the former, while going for a run, hike, or reading a novel goes into the latter. I have to force myself to exercise so I don't really think of it as 'fun,' but the rewards are enormous.
