Lenght of MCAT Score Validity

How long are MCAT scores valid? I heard that its three years but is that from the time you took it to when you apply or when you actually matriculate. So if I took it in 2002, for long can I use that score to apply. Also what happens to the old scores, are they erased from your record? not reported to schools or what? Also I?m going to apply to Texas schools so does anyone know with regards to them what the general policy is. Thanks.

I think it just depends on the school, most won't accept scores older than 3 years. But as far as I know, AMCAS keeps your scores forever.

3 years is AAMC's suggestion, which most schools use. They're still printed on your application, though.

The current MSAR says:

Baylor, A&M, Galveston, Houston, UTSW 2000 MCAT oldest acceptable

Tech, UTSA, 2001 oldest acceptable
