I know that someone may have asked a similar question and I do see that there were similar questions asked in other fields, but not dentistry, so I'm just going to ask. I'm sorry if this is an obvious question. 🙂

I just finished my personal statement and tried my best to trim it down and it still counts up to:

939 words
5344 characters with space

I know that this is too much, but how critical is it to make the essay limited to 4500 characters? Would it look bad even if the content were really good?

I really feel that every paragraph needs to be included but I do not want to risk it if the length MUST BE be limited to 4500.

I appreciate your input/advice in advance.

I'm pretty sure anything after 4500 characters will be cut off.

It's not a matter of risking scorn because of an overly long essay. when you input it into AADSAS it will cut it down to 4500 characters and trust me, that will screw up your essay a lot more than trimming out a paragraph.

P.S. are you applying this cycle? what are your stats?

I kept mine at about 3200 characters (including spaces).... I purposly designed it this short cause... If you think about it, these poor adcoms read through thousands and thousands of PS's, I think (and I am not sure about this) that if they see its too long, they probably just skimp through it.

I have 6 interviews so far, so, I guess my PS wasn't too terrible

Mine was 4500 characters exactly, single spaces
It's only 4500 and there is a lot to say
