I am interested in the dual pharmD/PhD, specifically in Pharmacy Administration. Most of the places Ive looked into have the general pharmD/PhD lasting 6-8 years. My question, is it likely that Pharm Admin is closer to 6 rather than 8 because it isnt a lab research based doctorate such as pharm science or med chem? I was in a PhD program in the past for genetics, and the average duration was 6 years, so I just assumed that 8 years would be more likely for lab PhD and 6 for pharm admin. Anyone with some input?

I also was curious about another issue. After 4 years, you get your pharmD rather than receiving both degrees at the same time. Does anyone know if you are able to then work part time and start making some cash will finishing up your PhD? Ive lived on a grad student stipend and it isnt great. Being able to work part time as a pharmacist would be great.

THANKS
