So I took 2, but really 4 classes this summer session - Gen Chem 2 w/ lab and Physics 2 w/ lab....I consider the labs classes seeing that you go 3 days out of the week for 3 hours and do 3 hour lab reports. Anyways, I have gotten an A in all of them except for Gen Chem 2. My final is Wednesday. I need an 82+ to maintain my A. I want to go balls to the wall with this one.

What is the minimum amount of sleep required to retain information from a day's worth of information overload. I plan to spend an hour on each chapter and work practice problems for each main concept from that chapter.

How much sleep? 5-6?

Drink a red bull before the thing and be wired and then crash afterwards.

I think the least I've done while still getting reasonably good exam grades was 7 hours over a week of finals... not recommended. I started having heart palpitations on the 4th day... Pretty sure half of my hippocampus permanently died that week.

4 is a good number.

GET OFF SDN AND STUDY. 😛

How was that divvied up? one hour a day or 7 hours in one go on wednesday or something of the sort?

The night before exams I usually sleep about 6-7 hours, then wake up early enough so I have an hour to do some last minute reviewing before taking the test.
My college's labs are really hard though, especially in summer.

Personally I would need at least 2~3 hrs of sleep to function reasonably.
But then again who knows if I was really functioning even then, if I had been sleeping like that for all of my exams? 😀
But really, I think around 4 hours is the bare minimum.

I think it was something along the lines of 2, 0, 1, 2, 0, 1, 0... and then 16

I actually fell asleep during a final once and had a dream that I failed it. Woke up after about 1 hr (out of 3) and had a major panic attack.

It was social science tho so all ended well 😛

three shots in your starbucks drink. sleep proof!!

I'm pretty sure that 8 hours of sleep >>> 5 hours of sleep + 3 hours of review. If you already have an A, you probably know the stuff well enough that being well-rested will make a bigger difference than 3 extra hours of review.

Wow, I never needed to study so much for any of my classes that I had to lose significant sleep time. I think y'all need to change your study habits, because these are clearly not sustainable.

I wouldn't say it was the study habit but rather the course load that was unsustainable... Sometimes I get stupid and bite off more than I can chew. 🙁 It's weirdly satisfying afterwards though.

I try to get at least 8 hours of sleep before an exam, especially a final. You guys need to relax though. How much studying do you do that you can't get at least 6-8 hours of sleep...

LOL Yeah, normally I have a dream before the exam while taking that 3 hour power sleep. It's usually a dream of me getting to the exam with only 20 minutes left to finish a 2 hr final. 🙂

I agree, I really cram too much at the last minute..
But then it really blows me away how people could be such organized studiers! But hey, don't fix it if ain't broke, no? (WRONG..I know.)

I usually have at least 6-7 final things (i.e. exams, papers 20pg+, presentations) which comes down to about 1 or max 2 days for each.

I definitely see people who are just incredibly good at understanding the material the whole way through and don't need to study much for the final, but it really depends on the class... I only studied maybe 1-2hrs for ochem 2 and did well, but for stuff like quantum chem 12 hrs is just not enough. It's because I'm too stupid for math 🙁 🙁 🙁

I had this exact dream about my MCAT which is coming up frighteningly soon
