Hi all,
I will be shadowing my first DO doctor tomorrow.
Do you guys have any questions you want to be answered?
I can help relay the questions to him.
I'll be asking him
1) What's his typical day like (work hour, types of patients seen)
2) Most rewarding aspect of the job
3) Most frustrating aspect of the job
4) Different DO specialties and why he picked his.

Also, I invite do residency students and physicians to participate in the discussion. Let me know the specialty that interests you and the answer for above questions thanks

1) Depends on specialty
2) Depends on specialty
3) Depends on specialty
4) The only DO specialty is OMM. Everything else is basically open to all physicians.

Well, as a DO getting ready to start a fellowship, I feel as if I am fairly qualified to answer your questions.
1. Depends on the specialty
2. Depends on the specialty. Im doing peds ortho, the most rewarding aspect is returning kids to health
3. Depends on the specialty. The grandparents are the worst
4. I did ortho. 5 years of residency...DONE. I chose peds because its the most rewarding, in my opinion of the orthopedic specialties.

I have added additional questions for do residency students and physicians to participate in the discussion. Let me know the specialty that interests you and the answer for above questions thanks

@Buckeye(OH) Thoroughly impressed. Great work doctor! AOA or ACGME?

Do you ever have occasion to apply OMM to you practice?
What got you into surgery?
