okay so I read through a lot of the websites for every school and generally for the requirements it says something along the lines of:

you MUST submit the following:

a letter of rec from a pre-health committee (***IF YOU HAVE ONE***)

OR

3 or 4 rec letters from profs/dentists blah blah blah.

here's my situation: I do have a pre-health committee at my school. but my problem is I don't WANT to get one from them cuz they require that I get all the letter of recs in by tomorrow (I just decided I wanted to apply like a week ago). So despite having a pre-health committee at my school, can I still choose to upload individual letters to the ADA application site. or is it MANDATORY that I get one from a committee if I have one. I'm just thrown off by the wording.

Please, if you have ANY info on this, please let me know and if you could back your statements up with sources that'd be cool too.

and my other question is, if I choose to handle everyhting on my own, is INTERFOLIO(dot)COM what I need to be using for uploading letters?

sorry about all the questions. Hope someone can answer this 🙂!

THANKS

Are you applying for the next cycle opening this June? My undergrad university has the committee letter service, but I did not use it 🙂 I submitted individual letters to AADSAS instead via interfolio. 🙂 I am starting dental school in Fall 😀 Hope this helps!!

It is not required but it may appear as a red flag that you are bypassing the com.letter. It is odd that they require your letters so early though...for next cycle? Anyways zerg is imba...

Mine are all required by the first Monday in Feb. The deadline kept me on my toes, and forced me to get things find early, but the excessive amount of other requirements are pretty frustrating...

My school had the pre-health club too buy I didn't get the committee letter because, quite frankly, I didn't want to deal with them. I submitted individual letters to all my schools some of which required committee letters but didn't cause me any problems.

I have heard that if your school has a Pre-Health Committee, and you do not go through them it looks bad, raises red flags, etc. Generally they prefer a packet from a Pre-Health Committee if the school has one. It looks like others were able to get away with not using theirs, but it's just about whether or not you want to take the risk of potentially raising red flags.

The first time I applied I did not use the committee because I could not be ready by their deadline as well. I didn't get accepted but when I talked to the school about what I could do to improve they never even mentioned getting a committee letter would look better.

The 2nd time I applied I did use the committee and the interview I had to go through was worse than any of the dental school interviews I went on. It was 8 on 1 and I cried the minute I left. However, they did recommend me and I got accepted this year.

So...I feel like I have helped you in no way at all.

It doesn't matter. I applied without a committee letter because it was going to take too long and delay my application. I just sent in 4 letters of rec. I received 3 acceptances and still waiting to hear back from a 4th.

A lot of schools say they prefer a committee letter, but it really does not matter. You are not going to be at a disadvantage if you choose to do four letters. I think it just makes their processing of your app a little bit easier.

If you have any more questions about this, let me know!

Just sharing your harrowing experience is sufficiently helpful.
