quick question.
I just recieved a rejection (post-secondary) without being interviewed from a school that i really wanted to attend. My stats are right at their average and it was my top choice even though i applied to several schools that are considrered as higher tier schools than this one. Should i write a letter of appeal/intent to try to get an interview? will this even make a difference? Theres really not a whole lot i could state that i didnt put on the secondary app. Please give me some input.
thanks

They've already rejected you, so you have nothing to lose.

...Unless of course you were planning on re-applying to the same place next year, in which case you might.

Nope, you are probably done at that school for this year. I had a friend try sending a letter to a school and it didn't work. Good luck at the other schools.

exactly. what are they going to do, reject you? it wouldn't hurt to call the admissions and ask their opinion, but i would gather some additional letters of rec, write a nice letter about why that program and why you'd be a good fit, and send it off. if you leave nearby, you might even request to meet with the dean or you could set up a phone appointment. if they decide to not reconsider you, contact the dean at a later point and ask what you can do to strengthen your application for next year.

which school is it? some are more open to these sorts of things than others.

Then I would definitely appeal (do that search, by the way. there's some good advice - and success stories). There will always be some strong applicants that slip through the cracks. I seem to recall someone saying that georgetown looks favorably on letters of intent. good luck!

Has anyone tried sending a letter of intent to a school that hasn't responded either way about an interview? I'd love to see Dartmouth, but haven't heard a word yet...
