I wrote a letter of intent to the waitlisted school just saying I would like to go there...

I have just been working for a non-profit organization that is establishing a nursing home since I graduated from undergrad.

I've been out of school for a year...so no new grades to report. No new activities cuz this job is a lot of work....

what else can i say to the school??

Congratulations on being waitlisted. That's a good start.

The next step is to stay in contact with the school. You need to be proactive to move off the waitlist. Write them again, elaborating on your duties at the non-profit and identify why this will help you in medical school. Don't downplay your role there -- if you are in any position of responsibility, even if there's no patient contact, it's worth writing about. Are you managing paperwork? Negotiating finances? Supervising or even working alongside other staff? All of these experiences are directly applicable to your medical school qualifications and your future medical career.

About 2 weeks after sending this letter, follow up again with another short note saying that you're still interested and are looking forward to hearing from them. In each letter, ask if you can supply anything else that will help them with their decision. There probably isn't, but if there is you want to know.

Best of luck, lamd!
