If you took the time to attend the interview this late in the cycle it shows that you are still very much interested in the program and in my opinion do not need to send a letter of intent. Granted, while it may not help, it probably won't hurt either. If you do write one make sure to really specify certain things about the school that you love and WHY you want to attend other than it was your only interview.

What's a stratospheric MCAT score for DO schools? I felt pretty baller with a 509 despite my ~3.5 from undergrad

FWIW I had multiple interviews and sent one an LOI and they rejected me like first round of rejections. So I'm biased I guess but I think it would depend on the school--they usually seem to give pretty clear expectations around whether they like thank-you's and potentially updates, LOI's, etc. Do consider that it is kind of like writing a second PS (which I found grueling), and I think there is a lot of room for sounding arrogant and desperate at the same time. I was burned, but I feel like if they already are looking for a reason not to accept you, LOI's just make it too easy for them to sit around and be like "look at this guy kissing ass" or "he barely knows anything about the school"--too pathetic, a little braggadocios at worst; at best a simple compliment that could be a tie breaker in a 1:100 situation. My best advice is that unless they made it explicitly clear, I wouldn't write one. If you're like me, then this probably feels like dating lol.. Like you want to text them to get more interaction but really ball is in their court and you should just try to be patient. Prep for next cycle if it makes you feel better and if you get accepted now then yay! Good luck!

I am in the mid 90th percentile. I have been told that's pretty exceptional, but if I have learned anything during this process it is that I do not know much. I do not know why I choose the adjective stratospheric, it makes me sound like a jackass. I have a very high MCAT for DO is what I meant.

No no, I just liked the adjective, and I think you're right - your score is great. Sounds like your post bac and MCAT speak for themselves. But given the short time you expect to hear back (and nearing the end of the cycle), I'd still wait the week or so you have left. I agree with the above that attending an interview late in the cycle is already very meaningful in terms of showing interest. Take my opinion with a grain of salt of course. Did you already send one since the OP? Hope you get in, come back and tell us how it turns out!

In a good season an LOI isn't usually worth the paper it is written on in general, schools know that you will no doubt go to the school if accepted unless of course something else comes along and then you withdraw. In this unprecedented season of closings they have all they can do to seat a class while trying to work from home or only in the office rarely. Don't overload them with information they did not ask for.

write the LOI and be sure to reference your astronomical MCAT score and breakdown in your signature
