is it a good idea to send in a letter of intent after an interview but before a decision's been made? what are people's thoughts on this?

My interview is in a couple days, but I think I will hold of on a letter of intent for now. I would like to have it and save it for later on down the road if I get waitlisted. I am, however, planning to make it absolutely clear at my interview that I intend to go if accepted.

do you happen to know if it is binding that you attend a school after they've accepted you and you sent in a letter of intent saying you will attend?
