is it redundant to include a paragraph about what impresses you in the letter of intent after stating why I would want to attend in the secondary?

I don't think so - but you should (obviously) not simply cut and paste. I mean, I would think that those reasons still remain the same, right? You're just being honest....Try and vary the language up a bit and talk more about what you can - in a general sense - offer the school...have you done anything lately (since submitting the secondary) that you could use to apply to why you would want to attend that school? For example, if you've started doing clinical research and the school has a strong commitment to research, you've got a link right there!

You also might want to do a search...letters of intent have been a popular topic on SDN lately.
