Hey Everyone! I was hoping to get some advice on letters of intent. How much do you think they help your application? If you're applying to MD and DO schools, can you ethically write a letter of intent to both an MD and DO school, even though you will only matriculate at one? Can you send an email, or should it be an actual letter? What is the appropriate length?

IMO, letters of intent do help to show the school that you have an interest in attending. I know that with many schools, showing interest is very important, and those schools consider a student's level of interest when determining whether he/she should get an interview/acceptance. Also, I think a written letter is much better, as they have something in writing that they can put in your application file. Hope that helps!

Sorry, my reply was concerning a letter of interest. With the letter of intent, I think you should only send ONE school (DO or MD) a letter of intent, but it would be perfectly fine to send the other schools a letter of interest.

I always thought that Letter of Intent is sent out after you gone to the interview but then you were waitlisted.
I think I really help since you are showing the school that you are interested in going there. I would send only to ONE school only.
