I'm very fortunate to have an acceptance to a great school, but I have been waitlisted at several schools I would rather attend over my current A (provided s the financials are good) and have a couple questions regarding letters of interest:

1. How long should these be? I've seen anywhere from 4-5 sentences to 500-600 words.
2. Is it ok to send a letter if I don't have any meaningful updates?
3. Should I name drop my current A? I have seen in previous threads that it can be helpful if the A school is higher ranked than the WL school, but what about for approximately equally ranked schools? For reference, current A is at a ~T20 (has been T10/15 in the past, so unsure how to classify); looking to send letters to T10 and T20 schools.

Thank you!

1. Short and sweet.
2. Consult with your school's websites, some will appreciate, others will not
3. Name dropping an acceptance isn't worth it. Schools will just assume you'll take the other offer in hand.
