Man I hate when people post about the same topic but I searched and searched and couldn't find the thread about how to write a LETTER OF INTEREST (corrected). So I apologize!

So I've been waitlisted hardcore and need to write a LETTER OF INTEREST (corrected). I'm not asking about what I should write in it, but I just have a couple questions as to the overall rules...

My specific questions are:

Typed or handwritten?

Addressed to who? The Dean of Admissions?

How long are they usually? I assume something like a page?

And I guess my final question is.. anyone send one of these bad boys and get off a waitlist BEFORE March?

Thanks yall 👍

LOI is typically letter of intent...not letter of interest...but it would be good to type a letter explaining ur interest...but if you have a top choice I would send a letter of intent...(btw I am assuming this is after your interview) if it is before the interview less can be done.

woops i thought the I in LOI meant interest! yea i meant interest, but this is actually for a school that i am waitlisted at

i've read a letter of intent sent by one of my friends last year and she typed it. I think it makes more sense to type it since you're gonna be writing 100+ reasons why u wanna go to that school and beg them to let you in. Plus, it just looks neater if its typed

Typed - its like a professional appeal, it should be a professional letter.

Yes, dean or director of admissions.

Yeah whatever it takes to emphasize that you love their school, are a great fit, and will definitely go there if they accept you.

thanks for al lthe info folks! 1 more question tho..

is it like a "Dear Dean ____,
Blahblahblahblah
Sincerely,

I did:

"Dear Dr. so and so ( it was a doctor in my case):

Why you want me.

I will go to your school.

Please let me in.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Alwaysaangel
AMCAS # 12345678"

AMCAS # helps them attach it to your file - which is what you want.

This might sound dumb, but is the letter of interest sent through email? I mean it makes more sense to me to send it through email, but I feel that sending something so important will make it look too colloquial if it's in an email. Then again, if it was formally mailed, I don't know how long/how it would reach the dean of admissions.
